P3V4X and WCPRSET values?

Ok, we all know that the P3V4X has some sub-par memory performance compared to a BX board. I have a P3 700 @ 868MHz / 512MB PC100 Infineon and currently use WCPRSET by H-Oda! to increase the memory bandwidth.

P3 700 @ 868MHz.
512MB PC100 Infineon (4 - 128MB sticks)
P3V4X

system/sdram ratio 1/1 and cas 2, 2, 2, 5

In wcpredit:

50-> FF
51-> FF
64-> 96
65-> 96
66-> 96
67-> 96

SANDRA reports 291 which is only slightly higher than a P3 500, lol.

I have tried setting system/sdram ratio to auto and sdram by SPD to enable 4-way interleaving which was not as successful as the above combination.

Anyone else tried other settings and score 350+?

[update]I just changed system/sdram ratio 1/1 and set memory timing to 7ns

In wcpredit:

50-> FF
51-> FF
64-> 12
65-> 12
66-> 12
67-> 12

SANDRA is now giving me a 321 cpu / 372 fpu so we are making progress ![/update]

Read my sig to checkout my Sandra memory benchmark numbers. I had similar numbers using Mushkin Budget memory. I upgraded to Mushkin Mosel Vital rev 2.0 memory and it made a huge difference in performance.

I tried Mosel Vitalic PC133 cas2 7ns Rev2 in here and it made NO difference.

Sorry for being thick here, but why can't ASUS resolve this in the BIOS or is it a VIA thing?

😉

John,

I think the reason the Mosel vitalic didn't really help you is because you're at a lower fsb(cas 2 on a VIA mb really start to show a difference at 133mhz fsb and up).

No one has really mentioned this but have you shut everything down that would be using memory like a virus scanner, or anything else in the tray, when you take the benchmark. It really could make a big difference if you have something hogging the memory. With the tweaks my 500e@667 on a CUV4X is getting 373/433.

Further along this train of thought.... Are there any DIMMS that will run 150 FSB with a CAS of 2 and interleaved 4 way? How much would this up the performance on the ASUS board? Does anyone have memory running this fast on ASUS VIA board?

Crucial CL 2 PC133 stuff runs at very high fsb's @ cas2(look at bxboards ram roundup, his corsair cl-2 pc133's are the same chips). I have mine at 150mhz Cas2, 4way interleaving.

My sandra scores are 410/478.

Thanks for the info......Mike. Those are some great scores. I think I will have to look into some of that high performance memory.
