I haven't set this board up yet, but can anybody confirm the highest CPU you can dial in on this board is 800 with the latest BIOS?

Also, the only FSB settings you can use over 133 is 140 and 150, correct?

Also what is the highest CPU that came in a Slot 1 factor, 1 gig? Will that run in this board at that speed?

The ASUS P3B-F WILL support the Intel P3-1ghz (100fsb) Slot 1 processor. Though I imagine you would be lucky if you could overclock that puppy to 1001mhz. And your looking to pay probably $200+ for that processor, might be cheaper to get new M/B and processor.

Best of Luck,

it will also run a 1GHz 133fsb cpu with bios 1008! be aware that your AGP speed will be 89MHz which not all videocards tolerate. :)

The 133fsb model only comes in FC-PGA, so you will have to purchase an adapter, but if your video card can handle it...this is a more economically viable option, the 133 is much cheaper than the 100fsb.

As far as fsb settings, yes, only 140 and 150 are available over 133.

hi,
I am going ahead and installing a 133fsb 1ghz P3 on my P3B-F,I have got the 1007.001 beta bios, and a new fcpga slot 1 adpater.Well from all the info i got here,it should work pretty smoothly. The only possible problem area is the agp speed.but it should be ok if you have a geforce or geforce2 class or gerneration AGP card.
regards,
hemant

Thanks for all the replies. I was looking at the Overclockers.com database and I notice all the high overclocks are with the P3B-F or BE6-II boards, or CUSL for FC-PGA. I was able to snag both of these boards recently, both latest revisions and brand-new (I got the P3B-F for $70 U.S. here in Japan). This is my backup computer system so if it blows up, oh well.

I have a Geforce256 and Voodoo3 3500 AGP which I can sacrifice in the AGP slot, both are cards which I believe can take high FSB. But I want to see how much I can ramp up a Voodoo5 in the PCI slot.

I notice one guy on the database has a 1 Ghz up to 1350 on a BE6-II, and his Voodoo5 in the AGP (!) also overclocked to 183 (Peltier cooling, though). At 1024x768x32 with details set to max in QuakeIII, he gets 150 fps, and that's with 2xFSAA turned on! That is unbelievable. That is beyond Voodoo6 and maybe even Rampage territory. Highest overclocks in the database that are air cooled are around 1250, though.
