a mobo with dual channel support should be able to run with a single stick of RAM.

It would help people to help you if you provided a full hardware spec. incl. makes & models.

First, please don't cross post. Second, the Transcend ram you have is not on the compatible list for your mobo. It may still work however. What exact problem are you having when you try to turn on your computer? Whether your mobo is running the ram in dual channel or not, has nothing to do with booting.

By saying "the gpu is running fine," do you mean the fan is spinning or, you've tested it on another box? Is the kb a USB or PS/2? Hmm, no video signal so, you've never got into the BIOS. What I'm getting at is, if your kb is USB, you may have to enable support for legacy USB in the BIOS but, can't cuz you get no signal. Catch 22

Try reseating the GPU. The ram could cause this problem but, the GPU is a more likely candidate. Without a video signal, your stuck with testing each component in another box.

So, it sounds like you just have to check the rest of the components. The problem is that MB's have a much higher failure rate than ram or cpu's. Since your kb is PS/2, that points me at the MB as the culprit.
