i had my p3 866eb fcpga running normal in windows.......... it gets like up to 62°c when i unpack a rar file............ so is it gettin too hot???????

what is the limit by the p3 fcpga??????

with my old slot-1 p3 600 i had it on 800mhz and the temp was only like 36°c max.

so how much is too hot???????

Motherboard: MSI MS-6337 Intel i815e
RAM: 2 x 64 mb sdram infineon 8ns

ohh yeah............ i also wanted to ask if i am getting to low points in sisoft sandras memory benchmark: 245 mb/s with my infineons

my case temp is 42°c and it is the original cooler from intel.......... i dont want to get another one....... cause i dont want to mess with the warranty!!!!!!

why is it so hot(62°c) and HOW MUCH IS TOO HOT FOR P3??????

thank you

it technically is not too hot. You're good till at least 70-75C.

Buuut... YOu may want to work on case cooling... 42C is very warm.

Your case sounds a little too warm. I bet if you drop the case temp 10C you'll see a 7C-10C drop in processor temp. My 866's run around 34C under full load with a case temp of @ 22C.

how do you cool your case.......... mine is at 42°c and it is also open on one side........... damn.............what should i do.......... i can get a case cooler for about 6$ here in vienna.......... that is the best it can get......... but should i then close the tower or should i just install the case cooler and leave the box open......????

so 70 is about too hot for a fcpga p3866........... ok

What kind of case do you have? Is there a front intake fan? Is there a spot on the back for an exhaust fan below the power supply? What is the ambient temperature of the room in which this computer resides? Is it on the floor or a desk/table? All these factors contribute to the overall cooling on your computer.

For example I have a 92mm fan on the front of my case and an 80mm fan in the back for exhaust. I found a 2-3C difference in temperature when I had it on my desk as opposed to the floor under my desk (it's cooler under the desk). Another factor is if you have carpet or hardwood floors. I've found (this may not be true for everyone) that hardwood floors seem to be on average cooler than carpet.

If you diode temperature readings are in fact correct you need some more circulation inside your case. Consider purchasing some more case fans.

I have a PIII-866 also and my case temp is 24-27c. The cpu is 31c when idle and goes up to about 41-44c tops after gaming a fex hours. I will tell you this. I changed heatsinks and fans on the pcu and gained about 5c by using a good combo. You my want to consider modifiying your case, I added two fans on the front in the top drive bay blowing out and it helped alot. You need to get that hot air out of there somehow.

but my case is open wide on one side........... isnt that enought........... how come i had with the slot-1 p3600 in this same condition like 30°c?????????

How about room temp. My apartment is on the third floor and I am constantly battling everyone elses heat. My apartment stays at about 75 to 80 deg. F all the time no matter what. I have to open the window sometimes cause of the heat.
