P3 E (100 bus) 1ghz vs. celeron 1.1 ghz with poll

What do you guys think will give petter performance for games, MS office, and maybe a little content creation.

$ is not an issue so don't thake that into account.

This is without a doubt. The P3 1Ghz E will destroy Celeron 1.1Ghz in both CPU and memory benchmark and real-world applications as well as the 3D games. Keep in mind that the P3 uses 8-way synchronous memory interleave (correct me if I spelled wrong hehe) whereas the Celeron 1.1 have 4. Don't have to mention the Cache size as ya already know. I would like to see a 1.1Ghz Celery Oc'ed to 1.4+Ghz with a GF2 GTS 32mb@ Q3A ver1.17 Timedemo1 1024x768x16 with high detail giving 8.4sec/160FPS, hehehehe....

No. Not the Celemine. T-Celeron 1.2 will be different story but the Celeron 1.1?, no chance. If somebody has the system set up, give me some numbers.. I'll show ya mine.

PIII will be faster. That 100 MHz does not make up for it.

100MHz would be nearly enough to make up for the PIII's larger L2 cache.

yeah unfortunately ENPC where I bought it from no longer sells em as we know.. yeah the only place that sells FCPGA P3 1000E cD0 seem to be Star-Components I guess you might have to take chance to get it from them as I have done the same with the ENPC.com. That was my first order on the CPU from them. good luck

May I suggest the Celeron 800 with cDO stepping? It is dirt cheap and with a modest bump in core voltage it will hit a 133MHz fsb for 1066MHz speed very easily. My wife has one runng 1100MHz and with the increased fsb speed it is very close to the P3 1000e in performance.

Well I bit the bullet and took a chance on these guys... hopefully they come through. Im just not too comfortable with my system running at 160FSB and hopefully i'll be lucky like you and have a chip that could run at 1.33 so everything would still be in spec. I have nightmares about my raid array getting corrupt... Thanks!
