P3 Cu 1.1 Ghz(100 fsb) @ 1.33 Ghz (121 fsb)!! ROCK STABLE!!

I saw this add : P3 1.1Ghz(100 fsb) + Mercury 815ep Mobo + Intel OEM HSF = US$ 170, and fell for it, because I thought that I could easily overclock it to 1.47 GHz @ 133 fsb.

I'v got the damned kit with me now, and No, it's not the ill fated 1.13 Ghz P3(133fsb). It is the latest version with OCD stepping but, it still won't even POST @133 FSB!!

BUT, contrary to what most of you guys said in my last thread, it has maxed out at a very respectable 1331 MHz @ 121 FSB. Core voltage is set at 1.80 v.

It was possible to post at upto 1397 MHz @ 127 FSB, 1.85v, but it was highly unstable.

At 1331 Mhz @ 121 FSB, 1.80v, it's rock stable. I ran 3D Mark 2000 Demo continously for almost 2hrs without any problems.

I don't have too many software for benchmarking, except CPU Mark 99. So, just for the sake of comparison:

CPU Mark 99

P3 1.1 Ghz: 87.6 CPU Marks

P3 1.33 Ghz: 112.1 CPU Marks

AMB 1.2 Ghz (200 fsb) on KT133: 106.7 CPU Marks

What do you guys have to say now???

tualeron? I kinda liked tully celly myself....But eitherway, impressive, but not to "feasable" seeing that the 1.1 p3 (coppermine) is pretty dang rare...(for other people's use) Its is one impressive O/C though...Most doubt'd it would go about 1.2

EDIT: forgot to add "i give ya props!)

Agreed.

I think it's a nice overclock and I'm glad it worked out for you. Enjoy your CPU. :)

Anyone else here think that I'll get similar reactions when I post results of my new Tualatin? Probably so.

Wingznut - from what i hear, the tualatins overclock very nicely. I've seen one at 1.4ghz. Ive yet to see one any higher.

believe it or not, im in the process of purchasing an intel cpu... most likely a 1ghz celeron
hope it can do 1.33ghz (yeah right :-/ )

Wanna place bets on that I get higher than 1.4ghz? (I suppose I should first tell you that it's an unlocked Engineering Sample. ;) )

Oh man... You have no idea. They are ALL OVER THE PLACE, just getting in the way. I only wish I could find someone to take these off my hands!

NOT!

Seriously though, I don't have one in my posession. I haven't even seen one packaged yet. But that's not unusual, as I don't work with anything that would require a packaged Northwood.

Wingznut PEZ -
Depends on what kind of cooling youre gonna do.
My book pc is on the way... i highly doubt im gonna get anything out of my 1ghz celeron. It'd be nice to do 1.33, but if i cant, theres no intermediate bus speeds :-/

To clarify once again, it's not a tully. Its a Coppermine core.

It's supposed to have come off of a COMPAQ PC!!!

At 1.33 Ghz, with Intel OEM FSH, its running 45 to 50 `C. I think I'll do it some justice and get the Thermaltake Volcano II with 60x60x25 mm HSF. It's only US$ 6.

But, what do you guys think of the CPU Mark Results ??

Are the results respectable?? Could you suggest some small downloadable benchmarking sw. Coz my net connection is a measly 40 Kbps.

Keep Posting....

From what I'm reading about 3 out of 4 PIII 1gig 100FSB chips do the 133FSB without much of a problem......My CUSL2 is getting one shortly!

...and they work on most BX boards....

You still didn't get 1.4xGHz out of it, did ya? Of course not. So we were 100% correct. :D

It's certainly a nice overclock, but I'd caution using 3dMark2000 as your stability test. Run it through at least 24 hours of Prime95 and the like before declaring it perfectly stable.

Lastly, 1.1@1.33 isn't too shabby. :)

sweet, a viable bx/via cheap upgrade solution:) unless powerleap comes through with their tully converter, then 1.5ghz+ o/cs would rule!

Someone please suggest a few small downloadable Benchmarking Software to test the power of my little rig.
