I have a P3 600MHz and a MS-6119 [i440BX] motherboard.
Is it possible to overclock this configuration?
In the bios I can't find any way to overclock, how do I do it, jumpers or new bios or?
Any hints are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

to overclock that cpu you'll have to increase the fsb as the chip is multiplier locked.
usually you can adjust your fsb in bios or m/board jumpers but depends on if your board has that facility. you'll need to consult your m/board manual.
is that p3 a katmai with 512kb L2 cache or a coppermine with 256kb L2 cache??

you should be able to O/C it via jumpers or bios or software (a la SoftFSB)

problem is, on virtually all BX boards, there is no 1/4 PCI divider, so if you OC it your PCI spec. will be outta wack.

welcome to AT :D

You might find this to be of help...? The first Q & A address this question... (Not really designed to OC)
Also here is more info but if you download the manual for your Revision of board you might find what your looking for...

<< 66/100MHz clocks are supported & 68/75/83/103/112/133MHz is reserved >>

Which to me means via jumpers... ;)

BTW welcome to the forums... :)

Thank you!
I guess my P3 is a Katmai since it has 512kb L2 cache.
My bios only lets me lower the multiplier, its 6x100 now, and can be set to 6x,5x,4x,3x...
I will try SoftFSB first, but it looks like I might have to change the switches on the motherboard.

like I said before, the chip is multiplier locked, in your case at x6 & will disregard any different bios or board jumper multiplier settings!
that cpu was almost at the speed limit for the katmai core so don't expect to see much increase in speed with o/clocking. :)

With a Katmai, your options are severely cramped. I'm running a P3 1ghz/100 fsb cpu on my 6119, which is vers. 1.1, and also jumperless. When the PC boots up, you can tell a jumperless board by the last two numbers on the BIOS id. If its a jumperless, it should end in MJ. Even so, the multiplier is locked as has been mentioned so your best bet is to use SoftFSB, which I used to bump up my FSB from its default 100 to 112. This may take a better heatsink fan, depending on your existing fan setup and the ambient temps in the room your PC is in. A properly cooled case and cpu should be fine at 112 fsb, giving your cpu a 72 mhz boot, from 600 to 672 mhz. Nothing to jump around over, but still better than stock. Hope this helps :)
