P3 1ghz 133fsb FCPGA overclocking?

Just wondering. Anyone know any bus speeds that are stable. I have ram that should handle up to 150 just fine...Dont know if the processors will step up though. Havent been into OCing in a while, and special precautions with normal FCPGA chips?

I ran a CD0 PIII 1G that did 150 FSB stock Vcore, stock HS/Fan. Never tried any farther. Should not be a problem.

Aside from the stepping, the mobo will have a big impact also. My Asus CUSL2-C sucks for o/cing, cause of no AGP voltage options. I hit 1150 with my old Voodoo5 cause it got power strait from the PSU. Got another Asus board and a P4 1.6A on the way though, so no more worries.🙂

Hmmm...I've talked to several peeps that had the same problem as I. Either we got duds, or your board is just blessed.🙂 Or maybe it's only a problem with the CUSL2-C and not the CUSL2.

Its actually a bug (sort of), but nothing to do with AGP voltage. Let me guess, you would lock up in 3D apps if you went higher than 140 FSB? There is a special BIOS that fixes it. The reason the V5 worked is it doesn't use AGP features.

hey old fart I get that problem with my asus cuv4x.... what is the fix for that problem if you know it?? I updated my mobo to the latest bios and I still have probs

I have a 1G PIII and a CUSL2-C motherboard. It went to 1200 without too much problem when I had a Radeon LE installed.
When I bought a VTek GF3ti200, I could no longer overclock. It would lock up on games and media player files. Made me sort of mad, since I obviously paid for less performance than I though I was going to get.

So, Whats the potential fix for this. I had the Asus 1006a bios, and just flashed today to 1009. I'm not sure it helped, since I can't OC higher that 1050. (50mhz!!)

I dont think the new bios does anything special... for me it only gave me stability on 144mhz bus... that's about all it did for me

The (x)USL2 does some odd things when overclocking. It goes to AGP 2X, slows some ram timings. Something about the AGP 2X causes GF3 cads to lock. To fix it, there is a specail (hacked) BIOS that you can get from X86-Secret. Worked like a charm for me and many others.

Oldfart,

Actually, it won't even boot windows at above 1044 with my Gainward G3. Like I said though, it would run totaly stable at 1150~1200 with the Voodoo5. I just figured that it was caused by the AGP voltage....Maybe not. Right now with the G3, if I try higher than 1044, it will post fine, but then right when the desktop should come up it will lock at a black screen with the cursor flashing in the top left. I've tried running at AGP2X, tried running the mem CAS3, ect... Nothing helps. I also have the latest 1009 BIOS. The new BIOS actually got me about 500 points in 3dmark2K somehow, but didn't help the o/c at all.

Give the X86-Secret BIOS a shot. It may solve the problem. The problems start around 140 FSB. With a GF3, you really see them for some reason. Worked very well on my system. I ran it 150 FSB, 1125 MHz. I could run 160 FSB 1200 Mhz also with the GF3, but my ram was not good enough.

The Secret Bios did the trick. My long agonizing search for a fix is over.

I'm back at 1200 now, and tried out MS Flight Simulator & CFS2 for a couple of minutes.
No Problems yet.

Thanks for your help!

Dave

Glad to help!! Yes, that X86-Secret bios is a must for xUSL2 overclockers, especially if you have a GF3 card.
Nate420, you should give it a shot also.
