I?m attempting to overclock my retail Pentium III 1000E (100FSB, SL4KL) again. So far I can get my processor to run very stable at 106x10 and v1.75. I tried 108x10 v1.75, 1.80, 1.85 and it just would stabilize. It sometimes latest hours before locking up! I was able to get the system stable at 110x10 and v1.85, but I had to lower the cmos setting like processor sequences from 1 ? 8 and L2 performance settings (I?ll look tonight to see what the exact options are named). When I changed these I got lower FPS in games then staying at the 106FSB with options enabled.

Please flood me with your thoughts!

P3 1Ghz's are coppermines, and they dont overclock past 1Ghz much. Only tualatin based cores with the Celerons and Tualatin P3's overclock signficantly.

I have 2 1000E, FC-PGA, cD0 stepping. The one from Costa Rica will do 1333 at 2.15v and the other from Malaysia will do 1260 at 1.85v. I run both on Asus S370-DL slockets with Alpha PEP66. Overclocking success also depends on the motherboard. For the Costa Rica chip, I can run 1290 on a BE6II2.0, 1333 on a Soyo 6BA+100, 1360 on a SH6 and 1380 on a BX6R2. BUT I wouldn't recommend running them 24/7 at these speeds coz only the SH6 survived folding 24/7 for 3 days, the rest had busted capacitors.

How much over 1Ghz? I would be happy with 1.1Ghz or higher. I benchmarked my games running 1120MHz and it looked good. This will help a little when I order my new Ti4200 128MB (don't know which one yet).

I just don't know if it's the CPU, PCI or AGP that caused the system to lock. I checked the overclockers database and several have gotten this to 1120MHz with little effort.

FYI...
CPU is a Retail Slot1 100FSB.
