A friend is offering me brand new winter tires that he used for a few months for free. If I buy some rims coudl I use these on my civic? I know the speedometer will be slower but I don't care about that. If I could save 500$ on winter tires that would be great. Stock tire size is P175/70/R13, the bigger tires are like 10% slower

Thanks.

I'd call a Honda dealer near you........ they should give you right answer or visit the place you are getting the rims & ask them....... say you will buy the rims if the tires will fit your car. Also go to the tire compay site they should have a tire selector with the tires that fit various makes & models.

I have a Civic Si 90' that has stock 185/65 R14 and I put some 15' BMW rims & tires one it with no problems (until they got stolen). Your model year may be different......... the tires may rub. You just have to do some research.

I have called the honda dealer ship and they don't recommend it because it will change the reading on the speedometer.

Until 1996 or 97. Newer ones have 14 and 15 inch rims.

Only the 96's have 13's on them. They had 14's on the LX (us model) and the EX versions.

It will fit, but it will mess up your speedo readings...

you need 192/55/15 or 205/50/15 for 15" wheels, or 185/65/14 for 14" wheels...

otherwise your odometer and speedo will be messed up...
