well im looking at a new build and have been eyeing the p18- antec cases for a while. just wondering what the differences are between the 2.

the p180b is currently 130 with a $40MIR making it $90.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16811129017

the p182 is $150 with no deals.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...2E16811129025&Tpk=P182

is the p182 THAT much better or better at all that it warrants 60 dollars more?

i might order the p180 with the MIR soon unless you guys convince me otherwise.

thanks for the help

The p180b has no cable management as far as I can see on the pictures. Although I thought all p180b's did come with that. I think p180b's rev 1.1 do come with the cable management. Besides that, I think they are virtually identical. Although, the initial p180's had some kindergarten diseases, which have been fixed on the p182. Wait for someone to confirm. Bottomline is, some p180b's are identical to p182's, some aren't ...

Unless you find a really old stockpile any 180B that you buy now will have the same innards as a P182. You can expect water ports, the little plastic box for screws, and some cable management zip ties premounted behind the motherboard tray (along with cutouts).

I like my 180B rev 1.1 and only see the 182 as having a different color.... not worth it to me.

alright, with that confirmed, should i order the P180B now? as it has a 40 dollar MIR and will come out to 90 bucks. is that a "steal"? or will it go lower perhaps? im just buying parts now for my new build in 1 month. trying to save money.

I would keep an eye on Newegg. I bought the P182 from them last week for $139.99 + $30 MIR and free shipping.

Originally I was going to get the P180b but they were not offering any rebates or free shipping so in the end it was actually more expensive.

Dark, if it's in fact a p180b rev 1.1, then I'd say go ahead. I'd email newegg to be sure though, because those kindergarten diseases the original p180 had can be quite annoying. So you'll really want a p180b 1.1 or p182.

well i emailed them.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Newegg.

Unfortunately we are unable to verify or guarantee revision or version numbers on any items.
We currently ship our orders from various warehouses located in different parts of the United States. Due to the varying stock in each warehouse, we are unable to ensure that the warehouse selected for your order will contain the correct revision and that particular part will be selected for your order.

Newegg ships thousands of orders per day, most orders placed on our website are shipped within 24 hours of ordering. Guaranteeing revision numbers or allowing any type of special ordering would prevent us from shipping orders with the speed that we currently do. We apologize again for any inconvenience this has caused.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please visit our FAQs page. If you still need assistance, please feel free to email me directly and I will be happy to assist you.

Thank you,

Rich Torres

so basically, its varies.

You won't be impressed with the cooling ability and you might have issues with the lower chamber depending upon your power supply. The P180/182 series is a very overrated case. I was very disappointed in mine.

I ordered my P180B from NewEgg back in April, and it was the newer version with the proper cable management. I can't imagine you'd get the old version at this date.

I agree that the lower chamber can be tight if you have a long power supply. I have a Mushkin 550w which fits in the PSU cage but I don't have more than 1/4" clearance between the PSU cables and the 120mm fan.

I both agree and disagree on the cooling ability of the case. It does have it's limitations. Personally, I think it's fantastic but I only run a single video card, hard drive, dvd rom, etc. I think someone that wants to overclock and stuff in SLI video with 4 hard disks and 2+ optical drives should probably look for something else if they want maximum cooling.

thanks for the replies. im getting a corsair 520hx and everyone who's had it says its a good fit, so it shouldn't be a problem. and im not doing any intense OC, just a dab.

yea well i already ordered it and got it today. how much space clearing is there for under the MB? the revision IS 1.1, but the clearance looks the same as my old cases. about 1/2" clearance i'd say is available between the mobo and case. is it supposed to be like that?

i also installed the corsair 520hx in there. good fit, but was a such a bich to install cuz the rubber raises the PS and its harder to screw in the screws but i got the PS perfectly in there in about 45 minutes.

just a quick question about the PS too. will i be able to run 2 HD3870s or 3850s in there? since the 38s are so "cheap", i could probably get 1 now and a couple months later, get it even cheaper and i'd be set for a while.

I agree. I also don't overclock, and I only use a single video card. I didn't have any problems routing cables from the PSU, and the case is very quiet (especially after replacing the Tri-cool fans with quiet 12cm Papst fans).

No case is perfect, but the P180B was right for me.

scratch the question about the underwire routing, i figured it out, you gotta take the other side of the case off and then you see it. but my other question remain

Yes you can run dual 3850's or 3870. A fan in the middle harddrive bay would be nice tho, to give them some fresh air.

A low RPM fan in front of that HDD bay will do nothing for airflow. The vent and filter restrict it too much. If you have a 40CFM 120mm fan there it will be maybe 20CFM because of the vents. That won't do anything to cool off a pair of video cards.

I don't think the vent and air filter are that restrictive. 50% reduction seems like an exageration to me. Maybe 2-5% reduction is my guess unless the air filter is clogged. But I don't know how you'd go about testing for an exact reading.

i really doubt that air is restricted that much. air is not a solid form, so objects dont really obstruct the path of air. if it does, its most likely minimal.
