Topic summary says it all really. Do I need to get any additional fans other than what the Antec P180 comes with?

If it helps..

I'm going to have a 3000+ venice with an XP-90 and a 92 mm medium speed panaflo and a Leadtek PX6800 GT and an EPox EP-9NPA.

So yeah.. not much to say other than that one question...

It does not come with an intake fan. You might want to get a 120mm intake to get better airflow. VGA duct does not come with a fan either. You probably don't want to use the duct because it's really hard to find a fan thin enough to fit.

So is a Panaflo medium speed 120mm fan good? 3 pin connector, right? I won't get one for the VGA duct though.

Instead of asking questions like these, do a little research on your own, and use some common sense.

All you have to do is look up the P180 that you are about to spend $130 and notice that it comes with one fan mounted as a rear exhaust. From there, you should be smart enough to realize that you will want to get an intake 120mm fan. From the looks of the post above, and knew exactly what fan to get.

I'm not entirely sure that you deserve to build your own computer if you can't figure things like this out. And by the way, there is a search feature on this forum that would have given great results had you used it.

I agree. And it always helps to read newegg user reviews, too.

Jeez..what kinda of crappy response are those 2 posts above..ignore them...

I own this case..love it

You do not need any more fans..but I wanted quieter and more air flow

you get 2 120mmX25mm fans...you can unscrew the top fan and move it to intake fan behind the HDD cage if you like..

what I did was buy 2 120x25mm fans(wanted a blue led and quieter fans)

coolermaster blue led in rear, coolermaster uv on top, moved an Antec tricool at medium speed as intake behind HDD cage...works great for sound

the fans come as 3 pin with 4pin adapter

good luck

the lower chamber fan was too big because my psu was too long..so it was removed

I found it very easy to get 80mmx15mm...for $8

I got all my fans from Jabtech
120mm fans:

Every thread has some know-it-all that won't be bothered to answer the question but is more than willing to write a book about what is wrong with the post.

Hey you do realize that most of this site deals with topics that can be resolved by researching on their own. The point is that if someone already has the experience then why not tap into that instead of wasting the time doing it yourself?

Thanks for the help helpy people... especially on that thin fan. I had read on SPCR that even 20mm was a tight fit, but with 15mm maybe I'll just get one then. I've ordered from Jab-Tech before too, they're pretty good. Thanks for the suggestions.

And I had researched and read many articles, I just like to check with people on the forums before I go and buy things I don't need. Sorry if I offended you or something.

EDIT: Though I hear that the VGA duct is pointless, right? So I shouldn't get the (80mm) fan...

Here is my 2 cents..I think by using it to suck I remove some hot air from case...maybe it helps...a little(blowing seemed to create in my setup more heat)

I need to try it without too

If you do try it without, tell me if there's any difference in the temps and noise? I'd appreciate it.

well I know noise is slightly less with fan sucking in vs out...more turbulence to air....

there is slightly less noise without VGA fan...not alot IMHO...I hate fan noise

it seemed to lower case temps a small amount 1-2C

I do think temps are slightly higher on my P180 vs my antec SX830..1-2C

Small/thin fans are usually loud. I hook mine to a fan controller and turn it way down. It's not pointless. After some gaming sessions I put my hand at the VGA duct exhaust, lots really warm air were coming out so i know it's doing something.

Edit: i wish someone will make a thinner duct and locate the fan a little lower

Do you have a recommendation for a decent, but not too expensive, fan controller? Is Sunbeam good?

It's actually a piece of cake. :) There's a recess in the duct that's apparently made to receive a fan. You'd disassenble the duct and insert the fan screws from the inside of the duct into the fan. However, if that doesn't leave enough room between the fan and the PCI cards, it's just as easy to mount the fan INSIDE the duct (the screws are inserted from the outside of the duct into the fan. The ventilation is exactly the same as mounting the fan on the outside, but virtually any 80-mm fan will fit.

And how did that response really help OP? Your conclusion that he doesn't deserve to build his own computer is arrogant and baseless. His question was perfectly legitimate. If you don't have something constructive to contribute, just opt out.

I don't have any experience with fan controllers, but you really might not need one. I'm using an Antec PSU in my P180. The PSU controls the rear and blowhole fan. Asus Q-Fan controls the CPU and the front fan. My lower-compartment fan is switched to LOW (all the Antec TriCool fans that come with the case have their own 12-7-5V controllers). So all the fans in my case ARE controlled, four of them dynamically and intelligently, without the need for a separate controller, and the resulting cable management is much nicer than using the separate controller. It's whisper quiet and substantially cooler than my other computer. You may be able to achieve the same kind of configuration.

Yeah I'll pass on the fan controller for now until I see I need it... hm, so milleron, what fans do you recommend replacing with what (the 120mms)? Er, I don't know about what controls what (like my HSF fan and such)... because I'm new to this. I've been browsing the manuals I got though (I have my case and mobo, just waiting on CPU and PSU.. and then I need to grab some more fans and a passive NB cooler).

And should I just get a normal 80mm fan for the duct or go for one of those thin 15-25 mm ones? Which would be quieter?

I wouldn't replace any of the fans, although many users have. I find the Antec TriCools to be quiet enough for my purposes, especially since all of them are turning so slowly. If you want to buy another for the front, it's hard to go wrong with a medium-speed Panaflo, but many authorities who post at Silent PC Review forums prefer Nexus and Yate Loon. Most people will not need to install a fan in the air duct, and many will not even want to install the air duct itself. I did install an Antec TriCool fan (switched to LOW) inside the duct simply because I have a fanless (totally silent) video card and I wanted to feed it a little air. (The 80-mm Antec on low speed is probably 20 decibels quieter than the small high revving fans on most video cards. I can hear it only if I put my ear within an inch of the duct's rear-panel opening.) If you have a traditional video card, you'll probably opt not to install a fan in the VGA duct.
A lot of people find fault with the 120 x 38 TriCool that comes in the lower compartment. I don't know why. Antec designed it especially for that location. I left it right where it is, switched to Low.
