p1400= EGR?

Recentley, my check engine light came on, I ran the car to autozone and was provided with the code p1400. I've been told this was the egr valve, is there anyway to either fix the problem, or clear the codes without the obdII Device? I've got a quote from a mechanic to replace is going to be 211 plus labor.

here's what you do, gohere to find out what code your engine is throwing, then go here to decode the meaning. I don't believe there is a 1400 code.

You can try clearing the code by disconnecting the battery's negative terminal for about 12 hours.

or of course you can just clear it the easy way and reset it in all of three minutes with the easy and correct way provided in the first link. but i suggest you first find out what the code is in order to fix or prevent any future problems.

You can clear the code all day long, but if there is a genuine problem, it will just keep coming back.
