You are of course right about the law but the argument can be turned around. The fetus has the same right to body autonomy as the Mother even though like the dead it can't proclaim it's rights, it just has them same as the mother. I still think you have to admit that abortion is a killing of a potential human being but it is a rare case where utility rather than feels has to prevail because forcing a woman to have a child creates a long term abomination that can be medically prevented. Life is sacred except when it comes to forced prolonging it or forcing a woman to give birth. You do not have the right to impose your own ideals on other people. Abortion is a belief of self righteous assholes in my opinion.
Not especially interested in the abortion topic. I am pro abortion rights and long ago crystalized my opinions as to why choice and morality go hand in hand. I interest in posting here is to promote rational liberal thinking. For that reason, when I see an argument for a liberal position that rests on what I regard as illiberal thinking I make it my job to point that out. So what is your issue then? did I trigger a sacred cow by pointing to the fact that the argument I commented on could as easily be turned around and it thus, in my opinion, logically worthless? Are you one of those so called liberal but really conservatives that can't stand their ego beliefs challenged and wind up as hypocrites? Meh...I'm anti-abortion...so much so that I will never have one myself...however, being biologically male, I don't think I (or any other male) has the right to tell a female what to do with her body. Carrying a child to term is very tough on any woman/girl, and FORCING one to do so is tantamount to torture.
