This accurately describes victim mentality. The point I hope to make is that people suffer that form of mental illness not as a matter of choice. We delude ourselves when we rationalize that way. That is the ego attempting to e,xercize self importance. I am saying I believe the facts to be otherwise. The characteristics of victim mentality as I see them, arise out of motivations that lie out of conscious awareness to those manifesting the behavior and thus the word choice does not really apply.

Part of the function of victim mentality to provide an excuse to act that way. The victim needs justification to inflict one’s personal misery onto others who had nothing to do with causing it. That’s the point of victim mentality, to be able to blame others while not becoming consciously aware of the real source of one’s pain. This is the function of blame, to egotistically pretend one has volition instead of a robotic sleepwalking machine denying one’s inner pain while reveling in revenge.

This is a disease that seeks being fed that says fuck you because we feel bad. We catch the disease from those who have it and now we are all infected. The way out is to step out of the game. There is no justification for blame. Revenge creates more of the disease. We have to face the truth of our own inner misery and we don’t want to see that fact. Instead we create what we fear.

I read that somewhere in the Apocrypha Jesus said, “Did ye but suffer ye would not suffer.” To carry the cross opens the doorway to heaven.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Victim mentality is disgustingly monstrous but nobody became a victim by choice and nobody will be free of it by blaming.
