I did a quick rabbit hole search and apparently in the 80’s helicopters were everywhere in tv shows and movies. The best reasoning I could find was that the Vietnam war, being over, had a lot of pilots and helicopters available for use for cheap.
The conspiracist in me was thinking it was some kind of military industrial complex propaganda type stuff.
Maybe, and probably not unlike how drones suddenly started getting used all over.
There were multiple movies about the military industrial complex.
I think this one poked fun at it.

There was even a glut of like teen ones:
War Games
Real Genius
Manhattan Project
And of course Top Gun, which was basically just propaganda.
Speaking of Vietnam War, helicopters, and movies, don't forget John Landis' part of Twilight Zone where he got kids killed and then managed to keep from being held accountable for it.
Gotta give props to this little quip by Serena at the Espy's :
Venus and Serena took to the stage with Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson, where they spoke about women’s sports.
“So, go ahead and enjoy women’s sports like you would any other sports, because they are sports,” Venus said.
Serena took the opportunity to take a swipe at Butker.
“Except you, Harrison Butker,” she quipped. “We don’t need you.”
Tennis icon Serena Williams took a wild shot at Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker at the ESPYs on Thursday night.

You left out the best part:
Brunson's addition: "At all, like ever."
