I did a quick rabbit hole search and apparently in the 80’s helicopters were everywhere in tv shows and movies. The best reasoning I could find was that the Vietnam war, being over, had a lot of pilots and helicopters available for use for cheap.

The conspiracist in me was thinking it was some kind of military industrial complex propaganda type stuff.

I pointed this out to my maga MIL back in 2019, asked her to tell me how Dear Leader's policies benefited someone with her modest income and substantial medical and prescription bills. She had been making snide remarks and outright political rants at family during a visit. She wouldn't listen to requests not to, and it got to the point where I thought 'I guess we're doing this' Had the bill on my phone in advance, plus knowledge gleaned from her daughter helping with estate and taxes. I kept it polite, concise and let the numbers deliver the pain. You go frothy over the cost of medication, ask others to help you pay, but then call them idiots for not supporting the party that refuses to do anything about those costs? I must be missing something, so do tell.

Haven't had a card, call, txt or visit from her since. Wife says the fishing comments for financial help have stopped as well.

Doesn't change the fact that the 2017 bill was a give away to corporations and the very wealthy, at the expense of the middle class. The touted benefits for the middle class simply did not happen, far as I know. Here's what CBPP says it will look like next year.

Just another re-heated trickle down failure, like the Bush tax cuts before it. All part of the plan to slowly gut the ability to sustain SS and health care coverage - while they actively block medical and prescription costs from being made more affordable too.

The level of support for this kind of thing, often from people like my second quintile MIL who suffer the most from it, just never fails to amaze me. Acting like Trump is the tax savior while Biden/Dems want to literally destroy livelihoods is what they do though.
