Most of the people concerned with politics today are middle-aged.

They probably do get the reference.
CARE is another issue.

I suspect that 15 - 20% of millennial's couldn't even tell you who is president if you asked them, many of them with college degrees and some even teaching the next generation of utterly stupid Americans.
