Stacked rigs sit idle along with other oil drilling equipment at a depot in Dickinson, North Dakota on June 26, 2015. Since November, the Saudi Arabian-led OPEC cartel has held to a policy of unconstrained output, an approach many suspect is designed to flood global markets with more crude, push prices lower and punish rivals, including North Dakota, the second-largest U.S. oil producer. #

The government wasn't involved in regulating nuclear power plants? The government forced the housing market to grant risky loans too. How is that "left alone?" The Pinto damaged the Ford brand enough that no one dared repeat its mistakes. It had the right capitalistic effect on the rest of the market. Some win, some fail, the market adjusts and corrects. In the long term, it's an example of free-market capitalism's success at auto-regulating itself.
