the issue is defining who is the devil, what are the devil's words, and who is the arbiter of truth as a guide post against the devil. It basically sets up the premise that you guide yourself to that one source that self-proclaims its own divinity: your pastor, Fox News, that slightly-burned grilled cheese sandwich, and close your mind to all other information because all of that other information is the devil.

The 'security gap' which has long been exploited, promoted, and defended by every religious authority of the three Abrahamic religions.

It crossed my mind recently how among Muslims you'd find some who claim that the Quran 'contains within everything', which is literally mentioned in Quran itself (I take 'general guidance' as the target of that verse).
However, in another verse you'd find what could be translated to "and they ask you about the soul, tell them the soul is God's own order, and you have been given only limited knowledge".
