Nope. Just pointing out that the meaning of the words America or American are relative. Meaning that the word American would also apply to Canadians.

Is it lost on anyone what a huge mistake that was?

Probably not the Navajo or other Indians in the area. Not only do some Mexicans think they represent all of Indigenous America against the white folk they also look down on Mexican Indians. So basically the Mestizos are going to try to force Indians in the US to assimilate with the Mexicans after the Mexican Reconquista or they will ethnically cleanse them from the area.
