Per the internet Big Macs were more like $1.50 then however it’s still two Macs per hour.
And the average price now is about $5.70, so gone from ~2.1 BM/hr, to ~1.3 BM/hr. Still points out that a ~$12/hr national minimum wage would be an appropriate reset.

And that actually matches up quite closely to CPI data ~ which is up by a factor of just under 4x across those 44 years.

Everything about this meme is wrong, except for the message it is trying to represent. Yes, Minimum wage has not kept up with inflation. But no, those are far from accurate BigMac prices

Average price of a BigMac in the US in 1980 was 1.50.

It debuted in 1967 at .45.

Today is it 5.29.

Reminds me of the combat controllers originally sent in to blow up the Taliban and AQ. NA fighters watch our guy paint Taliban positions with a laser, and then seconds later those targets are JDAMed to hell in spectacular fashion. Afghans were used to guns and tank rounds going off all the time, but "American Air Mail" ? Nope! Smiling CC realizes they've never seen one before, offers laser designator to terp, "You wanna hold it?" Everyone recoils and backs up, away from the strange device that might be an alien death ray.
Reminds me of the story of a real-life "Angel of Death", Col Allison Black USAF, who was the navigator on an AC-130 gunship. Afghan fighters working with US special forces gave her the nickname after hearing her communicate with ground forces during the beginning of the war.

“He looked at our American Special Forces and said, ‘Is that a woman?’” Black said. “And they’re like, ‘As a matter of fact, it is.’ He’s like, ‘oh, America is so determined, they bring their women to kill Taliban.’ He couldn’t believe it.”

Dostum brings Fazal near the radio so that he can hear this female voice,” the soldier said in an anonymous interview with the program. “Fazal hears her voice as it’s being explained to him, through the translators, that we have the ‘angel of death’ overhead… and we possess the death ray.”

The death ray was the laser pointer the AC-130 crews used to pinpoint targets on which to train its guns — but the Afghan fighters believed the laser itself was the weapon.

My death ray story was about a SOFLAM unit, used to mark a Soviet tank turned Taliban sentry gun. I forget where. IIRC the NA had been trying to dislodge it for sometime. American airpower got rid of it in a few minutes. Made a big impression, I can see NA running with it.

"I'm telling you Hamid! No projectile! The Americans just point it and things fucking explode! Halas! You should tell your cousin in the Taliban to run."

Props to Col Black, and grats on a well deserved retirement. 2000 hours of combat. I wonder how many bad guys she helped take out.

Its fucking weird that people are rage simping for a shit corporation like McDonald's over a meme. Even more hilarious is the CEO being like "I cannot stand this, how can people believe in a world of $18 Big Macs?!? Which sure, some McDonalds do sell $18+ Big Macs but like those aren't the norm, now go chow down on our value menu you fat fucks!" whilst he plays dumb CEO (who admits they fucked up and have been overpricing their food). On top of him being a clown (well I guess at least he did choose the right corporation to work for...) that runs to the media to whine about a meme, just another tone deaf asshole to stupid to realize its because of assholes like him fucking over his employees while he rakes in millions that people believe that meme.

So the Right created charter abortion clinics?

How disappointed they must be, and they probably view us as delusional as the North Koreans (being told bullshit by their dictators).

The aftermath of that is like the meme of the war on drugs and the drugs winning. Motherfuckers had the angel of death and a death ray and 20 years later and the Taliban is back in power?

Do not confuse defending objective verifiable facts with defending anything other than objective fact itself.

Wildly inaccurate misinformation used to make a point is destructive to that point. It allows someone to completely dismiss the point because you fucking lied to them.
