Its not like they don't make it clear there are very few people that are of their ilk so yeah the poor are not one of their own. The hypocrisy is that they could do even better by letting in more immigrants as they're prone to being easily exploited (lots of pyramid schemes/MLMs have pivoted specifically to target immigrant communities for instance), but they're deciding that their racism is actually a bit more important. Well that and they get to exploit those people in other countries with even more lax policies, but its easy for them to explain the people fleeing those situations as a culture war of them coming to harm the poorer Americans.
