French fries are strongly associated with the USA/Americans ...
No, they are not.

You eat fries with ketchup. That's enough reason to disqualify you for anything to do with fries.

Americans are associated with hamburgers. And hotdogs. Even more with pizza than with fries.

In Belgium (and in my country, next door) we have little restaurants where the main product is fries. Like Americans have hamburger-restaurants and pizza-restaurants. We have fries-restaurants. You can get other stuff there (croquettes, frikandel, etc). But fries are the main product they are selling.

In my country we associate fries with Belgium. Even though we eat fries just as much.

Interesting.

FWIW, I don't eat fries with ketchup. If fries are bad enough to need ketchup then they aren't worth eating, IMO.

Anyway, like pizza being associated with Italy and America, "French" Fries are associated with American fast food as much as milk shakes and hamburgers. They have been an ubiquitous side order in all American fast food since the beginning. When the Japanese have their potato party, they are covering the tables with McDonald's French fries.

Potato chips (the flakes; not the British kind of "chips" that are like thick-cut fries) are more common junk food at birthday parties, get-togethers, and barbecues because they can be bagged and preserved, but fries are king in American fast food. A staple. People in China don't order Lay's potato chips at McDonald's, but they can order McDonald's french fries.

Well, yeah...

...and France...

...and American fast food.

Although French fries were already a popular dish in most British commonwealth countries, the thin style of French fries has been popularized worldwide in part by the large American fast-food chains, such as McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's.

It's not just me.

Talk about mr Teflon. To this day that particular incident still pisses me off. First, he's got our guys out there totally unprotected and gets them killed. Then to top it off he cuts and runs right out of Lebanon.

Demands for investigations.... Having a cut and run coward for a president. Nope not one bit with mr Teflon.
