Louie Palu presents the gradual militarisation of the North American Arctic, from the legacies of the cold war to the increasing military presence, at a time when the Arctic is facing challenges such as global warming and the growth of international maritime traffic.Here, we see some of the 400 US paratroopers playing the role of an invading army, training for cold weather warfare. The photograph was taken was at Donnelly Training Area near Fort Greely, the US army launch site for anti-ballistic missiles, just below the Arctic Circle
