if the ultra-pacifists get their way, sooner or later we wont even be allowed to defend ourselves with deadly force. Our infantry will be forced to use non-lethal weapons such as sound and foam in EVERY fight...

...and this all goes back to the disease that is PC!

This was off topic to be sure, no one here is talking about pacifism during war.

I see a strange contrast from your replies here and in your national anthem thread. You claim we are the best country in all of mankind due to our ideals of justice, liberty and freedom and then you defend torture. Strange world you live in, I guess you drop your ideals when your temporary heads of state think it's necessary.

nope, only when the your lives, or my fellow soldiers' lives, are known to be in imminent danger.

I do not condone torture in most cases. I chose "rarely." It's those who answered "never" that seem a bit ultra-pacifist to me. Especially given the barbaric nature of our enemies!

It's those who don't believe we are even allowed to hurt our enemies' feeling that make me nervous.

I have a huge stake in this subject, and have sworn to uphold the laws in all interrogations, so I will always do so. Look up "97E" under Army jobs, and you'll begin to see why... (that's me!)

example: I do not believe it's right that the a soldier got 6 months in prison for simply scaring prisoners with a dog. then again, that's in the grey area of "threats" that are normally disallowed in interrogations....soooo....

Oh Boy, will you please learn to think through what you say. If the ultra-pacifists get their way you won't need and infantry with any kinds of weapons at all.
Surely you see that adults don't do in adultery what infants do in the infantry.

It depends on what is meant by torture. If it is being done by the Bush Administration, liberals will be quick to call anything torture: yelling at the terrorist will be "emotional torture," not letting the guy starve himself to death will be "spiritual torture."

You know what is most sad about you ranting of what is PC or not, your idea of what is anti- PC is by selling out to the most uptight pro-big nanny government hardline of ass puckers and con artists to cover your sorry butt and make excuses for what is wrong, you are the PC freak here, There is nothing rebellious or anti-PC about being a shill to what you consider the "do-gooder" nannies of the world. Your just another tool of the status quo, you are not throwing a wrench into the evil PC machine, you are just another cog, hopefully you at least get paid by the gop for selling yourself out and looking like a fool in here.

nahh, I'm realistic enough to know that we'll always need weapons and an infantry force of some sort to defend ourselves from those in the 3rd world who laugh at pacifists more than I do!

But I also know that the words "kill, maim, wound, injure, fight, battle, etc" all make the hair go up on the back of every ultra-pacifist. They get their panties all in a bunch the second you begin to even think about harming another human being...

sooo, that said, I really do believe that we would be fighting with foam and soundwaves if they had their way, and then only defensively...

read this book: The Men Who Stare at Goats by Jon Ronson.

He touches on what happens when someone in the Military listens to pacifists... It's a great short read for all of those interested in seeing what happens when hippy-sympathizers from the 60's gain high rank in the Military, and then use their ideas to spend money on non-lethal weaponry and other pacifistic nonsense... (for instance, they actually sponsored one officer's travels during his "search" for zen... all on taxpayer's dollars! lol I guess he went "tripping" for the greater good?)...

So what? Who cares about some unknown movement? Make your point already, so what if someone had a idea you dont like? You going to make a point? Seems like a good idea to me, would earn respect with the world, better then torturing people and bombing innocents.
So you saying maiming, toturing and killing people is the best way? We know that, you support torturing murdering imperialists in here all day. So whats your plan for humanity? more killing and war? Some of the methods like "positive vibes" are downright kooky, but foam and stuff would work fine, or would it not fullfill your small pen0r complex enough to not have a childs death on your hands?

I think the idea of a effective armed forces that used non-lethal methods is a noble goal. I don't see how it could happen, but what the hell is wrong with you to not see that as positive? You sick in the head? The world would be a much different place if problems were dealt with instead of people randomly killed making the situation worse.

lol.. once again that sound you heard is the point flying right over your skull.

The point is simply this: sometimes it is necessary for there to be fighting and killing. Those who refuse to ever see the necessity of either are the naive ones, not I. They live in a fantasy land, not I.

While I have never desired or wanted the death of anyone on my hands, what's done is done; and I personally recognize the necessity for the fighting and killing. For as long as it takes to rid the world of violent fanaticism, we shall have to continue warring. So when those people who choose to ignore the necessity finally come to their senses, we'll all be much better off. For that is when we'll finally be able to get the job done without their whining and interference slowing us down.

Now, I chose "rarely" in the poll here, regarding "torture," so do NOT put words into my mouth (or keystrokes). It's those who consider ANY form of derogatory talk a form of "torture," and those who worry more about our enemies' "feelings" than our (my) lives, that I have a problem with.

Is that you? Does that shoe fit?

Some people need to be killed. period.

g'day!

But why are you even raising this so-called point? What do "ultra-pacifists" have to do with the views of the much more mainstream left represented here on ATPN?

I'll bet I could come up with some ultra-right groups who advocate policies Hitler would have been pround of. Do you think that linking such groups to those who voted "sometimes" or "rarely" in this torture poll would be relevant to this thread?

no, but it may be safe to equate them to those who answered "Often," just as I chose to link the ulta-pacifists to those who chose "never."
