The tone at the P&N forum has degraded the last few days, dramatically. Please do something!

I think somebody wants it a little 'spicy' in there. Why else would the rules have been taken down and the personal attacks rule not enforced...
(except for the warning Etech got but I think somebody's got it in for him so that doesn't count).

Of course, the first time someone gets the hook for using colorful adjectives or 'stepping over the line' you just know there's going to be a big tado about it, what with the lack of disciplinary actions that seem to be the norm these days.

Big tado or not, something needs to bring it back from the brink. There seems to be a concerted campaign to derail topics and turn them into flame wars. I have on occassion wanted to post on some topics, but after reading the thread realized that the original topic had become lost in idiotic back and forth flaming between a few and that the original topic was completely forgotten in the fray.

What's the point of keeping the P&N Forum if it just turns into inane flaming? It seemed to offer a newer higher form of Forum for AT, but has degraded into something that even regulars of ATOT are frightened by. If you don't fix, nix.

Suggestions:

Rules
1) no flaming
2) stay on topic!
3) no ad-hominems

Mod actions
1) post warning when forum rules are violated
2) lock threads that have deteriorated beyond repair, warn those who caused it
3) Warnings need not be posted as "edits", but, especially when multiple users are guilty, should be in a unique Mod Post.
4) if posters continue to contravene the rules despite repeated warnings, ban them!

Even if these suggestions are too much, do something please.

Agreed. I posted a thread there today hoping for a serious discussion (it's not even about Bush/Iraq/Israel/etc) and it attracted a few good responses and a whole bunch of thread crappers. :|
