Title says it all! i have no idea why it wont go any farther. its even retail, cc0.. SL45y..

P!!! 700 Retail cc0
512 Mb Crucial Cas2
3Dprophet II MX
Asus Cusl2-c 1003

does the new 1006 b bios help at all?
i have tried messing w/ the stupid ram settings, none will work.
tried 133:100:33. same thing as 133,133,33. even set ram to 3-2-2 as
some people have suggested..

thanks.

I have a similar setup and mine tops out at the same level.
Same mobo, Cb0 P3 700e.
I'm running the beta bios from December 2000.
That's still a pretty good overclock though.

cC0 and cB0 steppings dont have much difference when it comes out to exeding maximum speed the p3 can usualy go(1-1.05 GHz)

sorry to be the bearer of "bad news" but your cpu is a cBO stepping, not a cCO stepping! 😱
you should be happy with your present o/clock as it's probably as fast as that chip would o/clock without exotic cooling!

Mine will do 1050 at 1.9 volts. But that's too high for me. There doesn't seem much point running that when I can get 959 at 1.75.

First we used to be happy with 300 o/c to 450. Then 500 to 700 and 600 to 800. Now we are all so spoilt that a 300 over 700 is totally unacceptable! Man oh man. Getting a 700 up to 1000 at 1.70v is excellent - why aren't u satisfied???

i am now. i didnt know the barrier was 1ghz. i just thought it was 1.1.. i went retail, i expected better. now im happy.

I also have a P3 700 mhz machine.. 384 sdram geforce 32 meg video card soundblaster live... etc.etc.. I have read the majority of these posts about getting you p3's to hit 1 gig comfortably... i have never overclocked a computer but i went to my bios and didnt really see anything to change the multiplier or overclock the system.. could somone give me some steps to first determine my voltage and 2nd on how to safely overclock my system... thank you

u push the fsb. multiplier is locked. hsf is a big part too. cooling.. hmmm. goign 2 sleep. its late at 1 am.

im using same setup with 1003 bois.i can boot to 1080 but wont always make it thru windows screen.then if it does i get errors as soon as i click on something.i usauly run it at 1.000 while laning at 1.85v with few problems.

Question for you guys running the PIII 700 oc'ed. Are you using a PIII 700 100mhz fsb cpu, in fcpga package at 133 or 150mhz fsb to achieve your overclocking? what are you using for hsf combo? thnx,
j

I have a fcpga oem Cb0 P3 700e @ 1002 from compuwiz1 (he guaranteed it to 933)

Alpha 6035 tied down to the core with bailing wire (I kid you not) this achieves
8-10C less temp at full load than the standard Alpha HS connector wire (if I say
it like I planned it that way from the start does it sound believable?) Uh..
Yeah, it's a feature! 😉 MBM5 says my cpu fan speed is 7541 rpm

256 megs infinion (also from compuwiz1) running memory settings of 2-2-2 5t/7t

Asus CUSL2-C mobo

New 300W AMD Alpha approved switching power supply from Electroseller

120mm Sunon 100cfm fan sucking air in from the side to the cpu/mobo area

92mm sunon sucking air in the top two front bays
lots of hot air blowing out the back of the case!

80mm sunon sucking air in from the bottom front of the case

I also have ram sinks and a blue orb on my Geforce2 64 meg vid card

I run every PCI slot with some card in it; network, tv tuner, sound, Adaptec
29160 scsi card and a couple other things I can't remember right now.

OS is Win2K server

This machine is loud, but it's running very stable. It would not go above 933
until I changed out the mosel ram for the infinion and replaced the aging 250
PS with the new 300W. The Mosel is running nicely in my wifes machine.

Hope this helps someone, the moral of the story is if you really want to see
that 1Ghz and don't mind spending a few extra bucks and a lot of extra time
it just might be possible.

well mine is the worst i think ....... buy from bonkers325 p3 1030 only able to clock to 1015 cannot go any further.I think is because of the ram i am using right now. Is miconmt cas3 p3133....damn this ram only will do 145 FSB.... cannot go any further... i am using sa6r same as bonkers thats why i assume is the ram hold me back.Later on i will get a infeneon...or kingmax maybe that will help.

its not that much more expensive to get retail p3-700. theres nothing much to overclocking. i havent spent that much time at all. i installed windows, made sure everything was working fine, rebooted, overclocked, done. altough i took 10 min trying to go over 1ghz stable. but that failed.=p.

Well, yeah mine went to 933 without any trouble.
Plugged it in and it ran.
I just wanted to see the magic at anything over 1000. That took a lot of extra effort.
Not that I can tell much difference. Seti@home finishes work units a little faster, UT runs a little faster, Q3 runs a little faster...
But it's magic... don't you know? 😉
