Ozone Depletion

I have to make a powerpoint on ozone depletion, and one of the questions is asking "describe both sides if there are rivaling opinions regarding the impact on the environment. I do not think their are any rivaling opinions as it is pretty obvious that it is happening. Can anyone confirm this?

Some scientists argue that the holes in the ozone layer are natural phenomenon and would happen with or without pollution caused by humans.

Isn't it true that the ozone layer is growing back already?

It was supposed to fixed by 2050 I think? But a few months ago scientists revised their estimate to 2060.

with or without ozone depletition, global warming can and will still happen. the ozone isn't really doing anything. it just makes it worse the effected areas until the world goes into ice age and can repair the holes on its own. till then, move away from all holes to prevent some cancer and move into smog-laden cities for different cancer 😉

And there is good reason for this opinion. If you are old enough to remember there was a time when the "hole in the ozone layer" was nightly news. The enviros kept pushing and pushing their agenda until one day the hole magically got much smaller than it had been and no one had an explanation. Since this info did not fit the enviros agenda all of a sudden the ozone layer was no longer nightly news.

I agree with those scientist.

Could we make it slightly worse? Sure. Same with global warming.

Ozone hole really isn't a big deal anymore since we quit using CFC's. It's quit shrinking a while back, and will eventually fix itself completely.

I also agree, i just wanted to make sure my post was as far from flamebait as possible.

ive studied this some and also been to lectures on the subject.

basically, no one knows anything for sure about our climate/atmosphere and if it is a continuous, cyclical process of deteriorating and fixing itself. global warming is also a straw-man made by hippies and treehuggers. the world is much, much more massive than most people can even comprehend. as much industry as we produce still is not enough to cause enough heat transfer to make a massive impact world wide. im sure we didnt help, but realistically we have no clue whether or not this is a naturally occuring cycle and if we did anything to effect/change the process.

edit, i should also add this:

3O2 <=> 2O3 (oxygen in the upper atmosphere is constantly being converted to ozone and vice versa, it naturally occurs at that altitude and temperature)
