OWWWWW MY BACK!!!!

We got 4 big wooden crates in this mornig from Isreal for a computer system we bought for a specific need. Me and the other admin each had a cordless drill taking all the screws out of one of the creats that held the rack. we got all the sidedes off and was able to slide it out onto the floor. they packed it laying on its side so the other admin stood at the base to anchor it and me and the facilites guy lifted it up onto its wheels. well during the lift my lower back seized on both sides of my spine. I have never ever felt such a pain in my life. It literally took my breath away and i dropped to all fours and tried not to scream. the facilites dude is a big guy and took the weight. The rack already came with equipment already racked so the cabinet was fricken heavy.

I came home and when i got home after the 40 minute drive home i did not think i was able to walk from my car to the house. i had to shuffle my feet. when i try to lift my legs to step my lower back gives me shooting pain and i want to cry. My wife got the ice pack out and i called my doc, she isnt in so i have an appt tomorrow morning at 8:30. even sitting in my chair my back is giving me spasms...

This really really sucks.

if standard medicine doens't work... i suggest acupuncture.

Sorry to hear that. I've been in that situation where my back went out and I was stuck laying on a set of stairs for 30 or 40 minutes before I could even painfully make my way to a chair.

Might want to check out Robaxacet for some temporary relief.

That has happened to my dad before. I would recommend icy-hot packs personally. Thats what I get for him when he has back trouble.

That has happened to my dad before. I would recommend icy-hot packs personally. Thats what I get for him when he has back trouble.

Welcome to my world. I had to lift a drum 3 years ago that was leaking hazardous fluid that weighed over 400lbs by myself. Now Im perm dis. What you described is exactly what I had and I herniated three of my lower discs. Because they droped the ball on me and I got fatter (because I couldnt do anything) there is no longer anything else they can do because now I have a degenerative thing going on decinergrating my spine around the injured area.

All I can tell you is if you have insurance of your own get it taken care of right away and if it becomes a workers comp case stay on thier asses!!!! I hope for your sakes its not what im going to go through for the rest of my life. Keep posted (if anything me) and I can point you in the right direction.

One word though if it is a comp case. Get a lawyer right away without delay, thats what screwed me big time. The 22% they take is worth it and I wouldnt be in the shape I am in now if I had done so. They will talk all sweet to you and make you feel like they are not going to screw you but as soon as they get the chance to they switch faces and say well thats all we can do your screwed. Heres some chump change sorry you cant do what you used to but atleast you can take your family out for a good meal

And I wouldnt wait till morning Id goto the emergency room right away and start getting on some meds to atleast ease the pain. Trust me by morning you wont be able to wipe your own ass if you dont.

Glad you're getting some immediate help. I recommend you see a chiropractor, if there are no other health issues going on with your back - torn muscles, etc.

I plan on it. The ER doc stuck a IV in my hand and gave me a anti-inflamatory and a muscle relaxor. I feel did somewhat better when i left i could walk with some pain so that was an improvement. When i got up this morning it was stiff and had trouble walking but as i walk around the house like a old man its loosing up. I am having a bit more pain while sitting than yesterday so I will be working from home today. I plan on icing it and just letting it heal over the weekend.

The doc sent me home with vicoden and flexeril. I wont take the vicoden becasue i dont like the way it makes me feel, but the flexeril for muscle spasms seems to work pretty good and doent make me loopy.
I have never in my life experienced pain like yesterday.

I know what you mean. I was in the front car of two rear-end collisions within just a few months. After the first one, I saw a regular physician, who gave me pain meds, which helped, but caused problems with driving and work. After the second one, I saw a chiro on a friend's recommendation, and it helped so much more, without the side effects.
