I had no pain in the actual passing, was surprised actually when it came out (practically cried from relief). It was before passing where it hurt like hell.

No. No sweet tea. In the summer I drink iced coffee with splenda and this winter I've been drinking cappucino with splenda in the morning. Lunch and dinner is usually with water. I don't drink much but after switching jobs, I've been going drinking a little more. I usually have 1 or 2 drinks or beer when I do go out.
I knew a guy that had one in when I was in Argentina. He said it hurt like crazy and took a couple of days to pass. He had to pea in a jar and he could see the floaties.
I've heard it compared to childbirth pain.
Another guy I knew had one and the doctor told him to start drinking distilled water. No more ever since. (Please don't start the lecture on how distilled water doesn't provide minerals. A doctor told him to drink it.)

To me, the pain of having it was worse than the pain of passing it, because the pain of having it is constant while the pain of passing it is quick, like ripping off a band-aid. Except instead of ripping off a band-aid, you're shooting a jagged rock through your urethra. Same thing really.

I had one about 6 months ago. When the pain first hit me, the doctor misdiagnosed me with a bladder infection. I went 2 days with over the counter pain killers, which might as well have been Jelly Beans. I think it's like the male version of giving birth. Worst pain in my life.
When I finally passed it, the pain stopped IMMEDIATELY!
I put the stone in a small container with cotton and named it Stony. I got "It's a Boy!" balloons from the office.
My frinds father got them as well. He said the pain was worse than when he had a heart attack.

Yeah, to the OP, just imagine your eurethra (sp?). Imagine the hardest piss you've ever taken. Then remember...that was only pure liquid. Now, scroll page to the first page and find that pic of that barbed mine and compare your hardest piss to those mines.....yeah, you're in for some pain my friend. I'm sorry for you.
Thats funny ,I dropped a good size one yesterday...I had one a few years ago that was stuck in my urerter (sp) un-real pain. but they could not use the sonic waves and they had to operate through my pp. oh what fun I had that week...

I have had stones on like 5 separate occasions over the last 10 years. i last had one about a month ago, and i was finally able to have lithotripsy. it was inconvenient, but it really didnt hurt that bad. the thing that sucked was the stone i passed a month before. ugh! my doctor thought i was a junkie coming in with a pit from some fruit saying i passed it looking for percocet. you will find that vicodin does nothing. i was told not to drink green tea (i never drank it to begin with) and to avoid drinking pop if possible. i drank it quite a bit when i was younger but not as much anymore. if childbirth hurts more than passing a stone, then the human race need not continue because it hurts too darned much. the first time, i begged, pleaded, and prayed for my death to stop the pain. and that was before they went up to get the stone. and when it comes to extraction, there is really only one way to go! ouch!
I feel your pain. That is one nasty sucker. I'm still downing water as I post this. I'm really worried about tomorrow morning when I may experience the same thing as this morning.

OMG GUYS! I read through this thread and looked at the pics and stuff. I was scared more than I have ever been scared in my life......Then I clicked on the mine looking stone.
I LITERALLY THREW-UP!!!! I had to reach for my little office bin as fast as I could. I feel soo cold and sick right now because of this.
I drink alot of Coke and I usually have to pee alot. So, I hope I'm OK.
