I recently built a new computer and proceeded to flash all the updated firmware to all my parts along with the most recent drivers. I have went for two weeks not realizing that I flashed the wrong bios to my motherboard. I used a non ultra bios for the K8NS Ultra from Gigabyte. Now there is no performance difference between the two based upon the sisoft scores, however I was lacking the nice dual bios feature. Luckily, I was able to find the award bios flash utility and force flash the correct bios. Weird that the board let me program the wrong bios in the first place.

You can flash almost any BIOS update to your chip.

Most would render your motherboard useless.

At least you could:

1. power back up

2. had a chance to flash the correct BIOS again.

Right, I had to buy a new bios chip and wait two weeks once. It wasn't even the wrong bios.. it was just a buggy flash program.

MSI? 2 doa mobos in a row, and one that died soon after 3 years. Heard they have a relatively short life. Loved the one I had working though. Now I primarily look at Asus boards.
