Wow, so that's all I have to do if I am pissed off at someone? Just post an ad saying, "FREE STUFF," give the location, and let everyone else destroy the place?

And what the heck went on? The place looks like it was completely trashed. Does "take whatever you want" also imply "What you're doing borders on illegal, so hurry?"

So, if I'm a burglar, I can post on craigslist first, then break into the home... that way, later, I can claim that I was just responding to an ad?? Pretty short-sighted of the authorities - they're inviting a whole lot of copycats attempting to do just this...

1. post ad to take everything in house
2. leave house with door unlocked
3. report 'theft' to police
4. collect insurance and profit!

better than setting the house on fire

this is criminal not civil... stupid police.

unless the woman doesn't want to press charges ... in that case..

if she presses charges then insurance will probably cover her

the quickest way to make it criminal is post the cop's address and mention free stuff. sibling rivalry or not, someone broke the law and they should pay the price. this definately gets a wtf from me

I keep expecting them to do a followup on this story where some of the people who took stuff had the decency to return it. Alas, it appears nobody has morals anymore. I don't know why I'm surprised, I used to live near Tacoma and the city was, for the most part, a complete shithole.

Wow. Kind of shocked how the police say they just don't give a flying fvck about the whole matter.

it is supposedly a civil matter.

I don't see why it would be even if the sister was the culprit. You can't commit a crime against a sibling? I'm sure that people currently in jail for killing or stealing from a relative would love to hear that it's a civil matter and the police can't do anything.

Added to that, they have yet to prove it was the sister who posted the ad. Why wouldn't they at least investigate until they proved that much? As it stands, it could have been anybody who posted the ad including the same person who took stuff from the house. I'd like to see if the police regard this as a civil matter if one of their houses is stripped because of a craigslist ad.

I thought the same thing briefly, then I realized that the kind of people who would gut a house based on a short-lived anonymous invitation aren't likely the type to return stuff.

Nah, just post their cell number in the escort section.
