Owe owe owe it burns

I just finished making up about a gallon worth of salsa. This batch didn't call for any megatomic hot habaneros, just lowly little jalapenos.

Normally I just cut them up by hand and grab them an toss in the food processor because they aren't too bad. But this batch...oh baby. They had some heat to them. A hour later and the burn is really starting to set in. My hands are on fire.

I'm trying to self medicate and kill the pain from the inside out with beer.

jalopenos are not hot at all

Milk did work somewhat when someone dared me to eat a huge raw habanero peeper though

I've been using habaneros for years now. Jalapenos are not hot, you just need to eat more spicy food to acquire a taste for it.

This isn't about eating. It's more a contact high.

 Repped

so you guys are wanting him to do a shot of milk, beer and vinegar?

I think I'd rather just have burning hands.

my stomach was curling when I was typing that.

I always just wash my hands really well. I can't say I have every had any lingering burn from handling jalapenos.

are you guys saying raw jalapenos are not hawt?

you guys have really big epenor.

Raw jalapenos really aren't that hot. They're fairly low on the Scoville scale. Raw habaneros, on the other hand, hurt like a son of a bitch. I only made that mistake once.

-EDIT- OP, if your hands are burning that badly, try rubbing your eyes. I guarantee, you won't even notice the pain in your hands any more.

Oh man... I cut up some jalapenos one time for a dish and i forgot to wash my hands before touching my eye.... I was in tears.

I made a batch of chili yesterday and nicked my finger with the knife when dicing the jalapenos. It's not pleasant. When dealing with hot peppers you find lots of little cuts on your hand that you never noticed were there.

Now THAT is a mistake you only make once.

I'm no n00bie to the heat olympics. I grow habaneros, scotch bonnets, thai chilie, and various other mouth numbing things in the garden.

These just caught me off guard with their heat.

Still regretting rubbing one out before washing your hands?

I drink Dave's insanity sauce when I get thirsty. It quenches my thirst.

I thought it was the seeds in those things that made them super hot. You take out the seeds they are just a mild flavor
