[OVERVIEW] Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus

I relly hope CPU-Z is wrong and that it's the 680i chipset we are getting, i would never pay 250-300$ for a 650i mobo.
 
If CPU-Z is wrong, then how do you explain the fact that it is using the same north and south brdige from the 650i boards? Seems odd to me...not to mention the fact that ASUS, aside from on the box, does not actually STATE anywhere that it is indeed a 680i based board...very odd.
 
Asus says it is a 680i in the sticker and in the comparison table in thir web. Also, 650i is far from the specs this board has... it's strange, but I guess they are telling us the trueth... if not there can be lots of returns and maybe, even judicial processes.
 
I just got this baby, have worked good so far. The only problem i have is the buildt in sound card, it's a big pile of crap. Crappy sound quality and crackling noises. I relly loved SoundStorm, Nvidia should make their own buildt in sound again, atleast then it worked. Other than that it's a good motherboard.
 
The board uses the 650i SPP and 570 MCP. This design still allows dual x16 capability along with the other 680i features. The box and manual do not say 680i. I am expecting a new BIOS this weekend and we will have a preview up next week.

What sound drivers are you using? I am not having any issues with crackling on my board.

No issues except for corrupting the CMOS at 7x525... :laugh: Waiting on a new BIOS chip but the beta 0404 BIOS solves most of the holes.... just hoping to have better luck with it tomorrow, overall, seems like a better alternative to the 680i boards right now. The MSRP is $209 by the way.

That label appears to have been placed on the box by the distributor. My retail box and those of several others do not have it. In the manual and text there is never any mention of the 680i chipset. The link on the website does not have the XE after the C55 which is the updated 680i chipset, same for the PXE on the MCP55.

I've notices that Ai Booosteer lets me higher voltage, so a new BIOS (0402 right now) should fix it, and seems like yours (00404) does it, nice!

About the sticker, I don't really care if it's 680i or 650i+570 as long as it works as good as we all spect and your credibiility is higher for me than that of Asus, but it shouldn't be there... time to call my distriibutor I guess 😉

Should be real interesting to see how this board develops over the next few weeks. From what I have read, so many of the 680i boards from other manufacturers have had nothing but problems. I am planning a build soon so I am adding this board to the list of possibilities. The big selling point for me in a board is stability. I really don't care about RAID or over clocking.

I have also read that this board is replacing P5N32-E SLI. You have to wonder why the P5N32-E SLI is being replaced. My guess is that there was a design flaw, incompatibility, etc.
 
For some odd reason the 680i-based board is the P5N32-E SLI and the 650i-based board is the P5N32-E SLI *PLUS*.
Go figure...

But that is the only one I have seen. I am very interested to see if this is a stable board that can offer close to or near 680i performance.

Regarding this board and all the other '680i' boards, there seems to be nothing but confusion and an unending search for more information. I remember waiting for a 680i board review for the p5n32-e sli/Striker/etc. back around Thanksgiving and apparently the board 'roundup' is still in the works. The only boards (that I've seen) which have made the reviews is the Striker board and the EVGA 680i variant and there was never a overall comparison of the boards along with the lower cost 650i boards.

Anyone have an Asus mobo roadmap?
