Overstock.com Wireless Deals (update: rug deal too)

I don't know if they are any good, but the price is good, and shipping is only $3.95.

Use the 10% off coupon for new customers or order two and use the 20% off coupon.

anyone know the diff between these two cards?

$56 - model 8434-05
$47 - model 8433-05

<edit>
According to this page, the 8434 has a removable snap on antenna, while the 8433 has a fixed one. Proxim's site doesn't have any info about RangeLAN-DS pc cards, though.
</edit>

Seem to be going for around $46 on ebay as well.

I wouldn't necescarily (yeah i think thats horribly spelled) discount their quality, though. Proxim is a pretty good name in wireless networking. I'd be willing to bet they're pushing their .11a products pretty hard, that could be a reason for these prices.

they have no info on their site, since its an old card, they replaced it with rangelan2 which is basically the same but with lower power use. if you search for proxim and 802.11b on google, you'll find that zdnet uses them for all their testing.

the card can be had for $39.95 at justdeals.com or $44.95 for the detacheable antenna one. its $11 shipping there though, with $1 per additional item. so its around the same.

breadeye,

Have you received the rug? If so, what do you think? I'm seriously considering going for it, but haven't seen the rugs other than the pictures at Overstock. There's no Macy's or Thomasville close by. The size alone makes it worth $300. I have a $20 coupon in my cart and shipping is only $3.95 to boot. Let me know.

Before 802.11b went mainstream, I bought a complete set of Proxim's HRF products. 2 pc cards, a PCI card, and the
ethernet access point. While it's only 1.6MB, I'm pretty happy with it. It goes corner to corner in my house, works well
with Linux (on x86 anyways) and WindowsCE. The only issue is that Proxim didn't really want to support OSes beyond Win98,
so I had to keep around a screenless Win95 laptop to set up the ethernet access point using their software.

If you want wireless but don't want to spend $100-$200 on an access point, HRF is okay.

There is no 20% off coupon that I know of for Overstock. There is however a 10% off for new customers & 5% off for All customers, and also $10 off $50, or $20 off $60.

bump for a good deal.

They also have a 5'7 x 8' one for $164.99 - 10% off coupon = $148.50. Save $1333! These are also available in Baktiari Gold Navy. Search "Hemingway Rug" to find them. Hurry, coupon expires 1/18.

haha, you guys sold out both of the rangeLAN cards. Wasn't interested in those 802.11b's anyway and tigerdirect.com (thanks sirpado) homeRF cards are new and basically the same price, plus they have the AP to connect to my cable router.

by the way, i do not believe that these were replaced with the RangeLAN2... that supports the 'OpenAir' standard as opposed to 802.11b. I think the Harmony are the newer .11a/b products.

Well, we just had hardwoods put in and I had to get something for the dining room. I pulled the trigger on a 8' x 10' rug at Sam's Club for $300. If anyone is a member, I think it's worth checking out. They're not authentic, but the design is Persian and they are handmade in India. They're quite impressive, especially after looking at a few others over the past week or two.

I noticed that the rugs at Overstock are machine made. Can an authentic Persian/Oriental rug be machine made? If not, why is the retail so high on the Overstock rugs. Well, bottom line is that I could at least see the one at Sam's and I knew it would go well in the room. With the Overstock deal, I ran the risk of having to ship back a biga$$ rug for who knows how much. BTW, the Sam's rug must way 60+ lbs. Anyway, good luck and enjoy.

Quick hot deals type thought: Can we buy these at Overstock, and return them at Thomasville? Hmmm....hehe.

i didnt look at sam's but maybe i should
thomasville is always extremely overpriced but i bet the rug is of good quality
hand made always seems to be a little better with rugs but my wife liked the picture and i needed something to get me out of the dog house
our dinning room is from thomasville and im hoping it will go well
