I have a 21" crt monitor (Compaq P1210) and am having trouble with the brightness. Even with the monitor brightness setting set on 100%, it's still pretty dim. I adjusted the brightness through display settings in Windows and it will work a little. BUT when I play games or watch movies, it's still dark. I just switched to this monitor from a 17" Samsung tru flat crt. help!

Did your monitor come bundled with any software? often times vendors will include software to tweak your monitor's settings, also, what video card are you running on? you may be able to tweak the brightness settings with your video card's driver utilities.

In Serious Sam II, I have to adjust the gamma settings in the game's controls so that I can see the action. Is it just in games that it is dark, or is it also dark with just the desktop?

I have a PNY G4ti4200. I did tweek it through the vid card's software. But it only helped on lighter colors. The dark colors stays dark.
