my parents pay for everything of mine (necessities, that is.... food, gas, cell phone, rent, tuition, books, plane tickets home, etc.), but i'm not spoiled. i know the value of a dollar and manage my money wisely.
it's a cultural thing... the parents pay for the child's necessities in return for being a good son/daughter and doing good in school. after they're done with school and are out on their own, that's about it...

My parents paid none of my college.. hurray to $60k in loans or so when I graduate next month. Couldn't claim independent status when I started school and reap in the financial aid due to my parents making too much for aid, but not enough to help pay for college.

So when does having parents with money who are willing to pay for college= unmotivated brat who has no desire to reach higher goals in his life and doesn't know what it means to work hard. Keep in mind, the majority of our parents got their money from working a shitload and learning what it takes to succeed. Find a better place to rant if you want to burn out some country club polo wearing jerks.
Complaining about spoiled brats who's parents bought them everything they ever needed in life on ATOT is like complaining about video games at E3, or using a PC in New York City, or... complaining about hats at a hat convention, or cutting your finger and sticking your arm into a shark tank.

Haha... gas and cell phones are definitely not necessities. I hope you at least use that cell phone to call your mom and talk to her every weekend, moms like that sort of thing.
It's not like it's a one-way street. When our parents are old and unable to care for themselves it'll be beneficial for them to have children with the financial means to help out. And most sucessful people with a sense of decency treat their parents very well.

My parents paid for my education - all two years it took me to get through school. And I'm returning the favor by helping pay for my three younger sisters.
OP, it's unlikely you'll get to be anybody's boss until you learn to judge people on their true character and ability, not based on what you perceive of them from some pre-determined attitude toward their background.

my mom's usually pretty busy... she's a senior project manager for two nuclear power plants for the nuclear regulatory commission.
gas is a necessity if i'm supposed to get to school. a phone is a necessity in order to communicate with people... i don't have a land line in this house. my cell phone is my home number.
one thing i know for a fact is that my parents will never, ever live in a nursing home. they'll either die in the house i grew up in (the house in which they currently reside) or they'll die in the house i get after i'm a successful chiropractor.
without my parents, i'd have been a mediocre person. i'm infinitely thankful of my parents.
