somebody told me to overclock my pent.4, but i was reading these articles and it says it may decrease it lifespan. Does anyone have a rough idea of how much?

Perhaps it may reduce the lifespan but most likely you'll be ready to upgrade at that point anyway.

If overclocking reduces the lifespan of your CPU, it will probably be a catastrophic reduction (i.e meltdown). If you have proper cooling and find stable settings, you will have an obsolete CPU long before it dies.

Hmm, what kind of CPU do you have. If it's a AMD T-Bird, and it's above 1.33 I'm pretty sure the L1 bridges are connected. Just go into bios by pressing DEL at the start up screen of your bios, not windows. Once you're in your bios, go to the CPU settings, and set the thing to whatever mhz you want.

I know that's a little complicated to understand, but OC'ing is easier then you think.

Even if you have to draw in the bridges it isnt hard.
