I have an ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe, with a winchester 3200+, 1GB of Corsair Twinx and a single GF6600GT (hoping to go SLI soon).

I already know how to adjust RAM speeds/timings etc... And I think I know basically how to adjust the OC features.

On the ASUS website, it says that this board has "Fixed PCIe/PCI/SATA frequencies". Does this mean that they are all locked? How do I check? I couldn't find this info in the manual.

Is there anything else I should know before I overclock?

go to ADVANCED > JUMPERFREE CONFIGURATION:

Set the Overclock profile to Manual

PCI Express Clock: 100 Mhz (always, this is how we lock the Pci-Ex speed)

PCI Clock Synchronization mode: 33´33 Mhz (always, this is how we lock the Pci bus speed)

If you are using SATA HDDs connect them to SATA ports 3 and 4.

Good luck!

Also set HTT to 201 or higher in bios that enables the locks on this board. If you boot up at 200 (stock) and overclock in windows the buses won't be locked regardless of the buss speed settings in bios. You can check to make sure the locks are working by using Clockgen NF4 it shows the PCI and PCIe bus speeds they should stay at 33.33 and 100.

Can you explain?

Also, does this stuff apply to the A8N-SLI Premium?

Sweet. Thanks for that guys. I'll have a go with that, and let you know how i do.

BroadbandGamer: I think basically anything that applies to the deluxe will be the same for the premium. BtW: whats the difference between the two? Is it just the PCIEx4 slot?

SATA Ports 3 and 4 seem to be more stable than 1 and 2 if you are overclocking, that's all!!

The premium dont have the annoying sli card to flip over. Other than that, not much to rave bout. At least the first gen premiums were this way.
