overclocking with sata

i'm building a new system, and i've decided on the amd s754. The thing is that i really want the wd raptor and i really want to overclock. however i understand there are issues where the sata lock fails at high overclocks on some mobos. the recent overclock review at anandtech said that it was primarily with intel chipsets though.
I'm thinking of getting the MSI k8n neo platinum currently and the 2800+ a64 cpu. How much do u think i'll be able to overclock with the sata? and any suggestions for a better mobo?

this is my first attempt at overclocking.
