I have the GA-965P-DS3 combined with a 6300e, with a PCI card I can manage 3.2ghz with +.2 volts on the ram.

I sold my 1900XTX and went for a 7900GS to hold me over till r600. The problem is whenever I use the PCIe card I can not overclock at all. I tried adding +.1 volts to the PCIE slot, tried all memory timings, tried 90-110mhz on the PCIE slot with same crappy results.

Anyone have some thoughts on the situation?

I also have the latest bios, the ones listed on Gigabytes website.

Multiple possibilities I can think of. The PCIe cards are going to use way more power than an old PCI card, so one possibility is your power supply isn't enough. What power supply are you using? Another possibility is that you didn't turn on the PCIe lock. The PCIe should be kept at 100mhz. Sometimes setting it to 101mhz locks it, you'll have to check your settings to make sure the PCIe is locked.

I agree....it could be

I havent noticed any degradation in my C2D overclocks going to pci-e cards....I added a 6800GT overclocked to the E6600@3.26ghz and no loss...Have a 600watt powerstream though....I also use a DS3

I didnt' notice any loss adding a X1900XTX to my E6300@3.433ghz either...I have a 550watt Antec TP2 on that....

I use a hyper PSU the 580W brand new. I will try 98-102 again and see if I have any luck.

Figured it out, whenever PCI installed USB legacy is ok to be on. PCIE installed it has to be disabled.

Weird I guess.
