I have a Msi 815e Pro mobo with the new 1.3 bios but I can only get FSB speeds from 100 to 132. The SW1 jumpers are on auto. How do i get bios to display all possible speeds and use the 1/4 pci divider (i know this mobo can go to 166 FSB). I tried to remove both the SW1 jumpers but on reboot the D-Leds stayed at all red. Should I try to reset cmos or something, please help. Thxs

Oh yeah

Yes you should try clearing the cmos then try to post with the jumpers removed and set your bios settings if it will post for you. Your ram could be holding you back from a successful post at 133 fsb.

I tried resetting cmos and still nothing, the D-leds were all reds. So I put it back to auto and rebooted. This time nothing again, I thought i killed my mobo but i calmed down and forced it to run on a 66 FSB and viola, it rebooted into windows only at 466mhz though. I then put it back to auto and this time it worked fine. Is there something im doing wrong?

Did you try to up the cpu voltage before pulling the jumpers? Maybe set the mem settings to 333 6/8 also....Other than that ???? I don't know....I have the same setup but have not tried overclocking with newest bios yet.

When I remove the SW1 (overclocking) jumpers does that make the FSB run at 133 or does it force 133 to run at 100 FSB. The manual say "133-> 100" Im kinda confuse. :(

Not all cBO P3 700 can o/c to 133fsb,check whether its a Malay or Phillipine model. The Malay overclocks better.

When you pull the sw1 jumpers it forces it to 133fsb. You can manually change the fsb from133 to 160 in the bios. I am overclocking a p3 700cbo @1015 at 1.75vcore for over three months now without any issues. I only use bios 1.0 and never used any of the bios revisions since I have heard so many horror stories with the later bios revisions. maybee you should try flashing to 1.0 then see if it will post at 133 then adjust your ram settings and up your vcore enough until windows is stable.

Hey thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it. One last question, is there any way to use the 1/4 pci divider with FSB from 100- 132?

afraid not, My system ran like crap until I set it to 133 and above to make the 1/4 pci divider kick in. Ge me more info on your system hardware specs. I will be willing to try to help you get through this ordeal to get your p3 to run at least 933 on this mainboard.

Wow really, heheh i feel so honored. Anyway..... if I upped my voltage and then i reset my CMOS wouldn't it just load defualts on reboot? or won't it?

No it will load the detected default vcore voltage on load default. You need to enter your cmos settings manualy for every setting after your first post. Your system specs look okay but I am unsure about the ram since I have never been aware that Xerox manufactured ram so, I dont dare speculate on the quality of the ram. As I posted before. I would try flashing the bios to 1.0 first before I would try anything else. We did have a large thread going for the MSI 6337 user support here at Anandtech forum but the thread was removed from the server. I wish it was still around to document the problems that users where having with the bios revisions.

Ok I finnally flashed to 1.0 bios and everything is working dandy. Can I get detailed, step by step instructions on what to do next (If this isn't a hassled that is). Oh yeah i notice that my cpu temperature in bios is 40c, i have a golden orb, isn't this way too high? Maybe this is what is holding me back? Whats your temp? Or maybe i just have a dud. :(

I dont think the tempature reading sensors work correctly with this bios. Alot of users have noticed high temps with this mainboard and we all pretty much concur that its a error in the temp reading. I have touched the base of the heatsink while the processor was running at full load, and it was not even warm to touch. Now just dissable all your unused onboard devices in the bios. Set your ram to 222 settings if you think it can handle it. Set your your vcore 1.70 to start with. If your losing video on a resart, bump up your i/o voltage to 3.4 try all that first and keep us posted on any issues you have encountered. I also recomend you backup your whole hardrive via ghost or some other similar program. File corruption is the biggest issue you have to deal with in overclocking a cpu. Be patience and sit on the same settings for a couple of weeks to really test for stabillity before you venture off to get more speed from you overclocked p3.

Ok this is exactly what I did,I upped the voltage to 1.70 and the i/o voltage to 3.4(DRAM voltage right?). I then removed the jumpers and on reboot the D-LEDs were stuck at all reds. I then repeated to process each time raising the voltage till i reached 1.85 still with no luck. Am i missing anything?

no your doing the right thing but something is holding you from posting try setting your i/o voltage back to 3.2 and set your ram to 333 first and see if it will post and set the ram from auto to 133.

Yup, I tried that too. :( I think I got a dud :( . I did notice however that when i disable "quick boot" in bios my memory just recounts/checks itself over and over again. Could this be a problem. My system is running fine other wise. Do you have any idea why my memory/bios is doing that?

I helped a friend to build a Celeron system with this mobo and we gave up. We could not o/c the darn thing and we tried all versions of Bios. No post when the jumper SW1 was set at 100MHz (LEDs were all red). Only bus speeds available were 66 to 99 with PCI divider of 1/2 ! We could not run the Celeron at 99MHz because PCI bus was too high at 49 MHz !! With bios version 1.2 or higher you can see the PCI and AGP bus speed under "Frequency/Voltage Control". We returned it for a CUSL2 and everything has been great.
