Overclocking with a barton 2500+

Plan on getting a barton 2500+ and a7n8x mobo. I have 512mb pc2700 memory coming. What do you think I could do on the board OCing wise?

Unless it is high quality PC2700, my guess is not much headroom for OC'ing.

Otherwise nice cpu and motherboard. I would have gotten an Abit board, but that's just a personal preference of mine.

i would go abit too

you can Overclock just fine with pc2700 since the board unlocks the chip. you should do 3000+ without a sweat

what abit board would you get for under $100?

NF7-s is about $110, you can grab that and a 2500+ for $200. just buy from a CA store to avoid the tax

Just got the NF7 and 2500+ from newegg.... I needed it shipped fast, so I didnt mind payin a little more for it.

I would set your FSB to 221, your multiplier to 10, and your RAM at 75%. That'll keep your RAM in spec at 166 Mhz, and let your processor run at 2.21 Ghz... I ran like that for 3-4 months before I bought PC3200 RAM.

Or if your motherboard can't handle 221 Mhz... try 200x11 with the RAM at 83%

Well, one of the things I was told was that the Nforce2 boards unlock the multis on bartons... so I will just screw with the multi to start out

That will work too, but the extra FSB will give you a little boost in performance too..
