Overclocking with a Athlon 1100 and a MSI k7t pro

Hey, I have an Athlon 1100 with an MSI k7t pro mother board and I'm trying to overclock it alot. The most I have been able to do is get it up to 1210 mhz. I have a feeling its because of the voltage not being able to exceed 1.85. Is there any way I can up the voltage? Or is there any other way to overclock it high? I'm very good with a soldering iron, so anything along those lines would be cool. Thanks!

unlock it by connecting all L1's wtih either a pencil or a more permanent means....it should look like | | | | |
none of the bridges should be connected to each other in any other way

after that, look for how to volt mod the board (if its possible) so you can feed the cpu more voltage

what heatsink do you have?
along with psu?

...what chipset is that mobo?
if its kt133...it wont go much past 107-109frequency stable at all

I think the k7t turbo is KT133A, so it should go higher than that. Depending upon the quality of your RAM, your FSB may not be able to get too high. The other thing is your CPU temp. How hot is your CPU? What HSF are you using? I'm currently overclocking a 1GHz AMD (AXIA stepping) to 1410MHz @ 1.8V. It is rock stable because the CPU never gets hotter than 39C.

Its running at 96 degrees F. I have 512 megs of pc100. I'm gonna get a gig of pc133. I'm hoping to get around 1400 out of it. That would be nice. What should my bios settings be at? Thanks!

😱 Your choice. Expect a lot more heat and to significantly affect the age / wear of your CPU ... plus the perf increase is only likely to be very slight.

Ok, it doesn't go past 1210 mhz. The voltage is at 1.85 normally. I uppsed the voltage to 1.93 and tied the next highest setting. 1240 mhz I think. It just shows 1100. I dont know much about overclocking so I am unsure of everything it takes to boost the processor speed. I have good cooling because at 1210 my processor runs at 91F. It's normally an 1100 and I've heard of people getting it up to like 1800 mhz. I'm only trying to achieve like 1400. Is it possible with my setup?

😉 A std Athlon 1.1ghz probably does only have about 1.3ghz at best in it, that generation of CPUs ran very hot at 1.4ghz and none of them would be likely to exceed that. A lot depends upon the revision of the CPU you have and then a little luck. Even a TbredA AthlonXP will top out around 1.8ghz so don't be expecting that from a much older PCU built using a much older process! Be happy with what you've got or else grab yourself something newer and more capable / tweakable.
