Ok guys, i got my rig up and running, but now i want it to do more, id like to OC my video card. Heres my current laodout

DFI Lan Party NFII Ultra
AMD Xp Barton 3000
BFG Technologies ASYLUM Geforce FX 5600 256 mb
512 kb PC3200 RAM
Windows XP Pro

ok, what i want to know, is how i can OC this card, and what i have to do to do it. Thanks!

search for coolbits and then install , restart. Then go to display properties and Overclock tab and then overclock.

That rig should scream . At these cpu speeds I dont see a need for ocing by and large . It gets to be a pixxing contest . Pc's like cars/boats should be reliable , not a ticking time bomb waiting to fail.

but it doesnt scream, when i play AA at 1600x1200 with all graphics setting on high, i get no more than 15 fps
its very laggy, and i know its video, thats why i want to know, is there anything i can do to make it run faster overall???

lol... wow thats pretty hard on your video card. 😀

oh, should i just lower teh settings, i mean, why would a game offer the settings if nothing can run it smoothly? what should i lower, my res or my details?

I would move down to quincux antialiasing instead of 4x, at 1600x1200 you shouldnt even be able to see jaggies at quincux, so 4x is overkill.

Or just do what you should of done in the 1st place there Chief, get yourself a ATI card!! Can you return your 5600 card, or just sell it on eBay and get a 9600Pro. They are on sale @ CompUSSR now for like $150. It's proven that ATI cards handle DX9 games FAR better than any GeForce card.

Just a thought

First off lower the res that is WAY to much for that card. First off only increase the clock rates small amount per test. Download something like 3dmark2001 or 2003 and see if u get artiphacting or tearing.if u do back down the clocks a bt and re run the tests and see if it happens again. When first OCing u should loop through the benches atleast twice to allow the card to heat up a bit. Just make sure u go slow and test alot its not worth killing an expensive card for a max of 5% increase in speed.

i think im just gonna get a saphire raedon 9600 XT, i found it at a good price, and i think itll be much beter, now, the only problem is to get rid of this other one

The 5600 isn't the best choice but you should realize that at 1600 res/AA/AF even the top of the line cards will have probs.
I'm running a 9800P and a 5900NU and both will do that res with AA/AF but low amounts of each.
The 9600 is a better choice than the 5600 but still will struggle.
With the rest of your components top of the line maybe squeeze out a little extra$$ and move up a notch to one of the higher level cards? I think you'lll have better results.
