Overclocking the FSB

OK so I am overclocking my FSB. Right now I set it to 220FSB at stock timings and voltages with a multiplier at 10.5 which is 2.3GHz and the CPU voltage is at 1.7. Prime95 fails at just 3 minutes so should I raise my CPU voltage or my RAM voltage? Ive never OC'ed my RAM so Im am not sure when I should raise the voltage on it so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

What voltage are you running on the RAM? If it's on the low end around 2.5v, then it won't hurt to bump it up some. I'm running my PC2700 at 190 FSB on 2.77v and it's been going fine for about 6 months now.

You could also bump the CPU voltage a little to 1.75v, or even 1.80v. I'd probably bump the RAM voltage first, and then the CPU voltage if the problem still persists. Once you've got it running stable, then you could back off on the voltages.

I started over just now and set the FSB to 215 w/ voltage at 2.7 x10.5 multiplier at 1.725 on CPU and it ran for 34 minutes which is of course better. My RAM is rated at 2.9 max on voltage so should I up that some or the CPU?

OK I upped the voltage on the CPU to 1.75 and it failed after like 3 minutes. Does this mean that the voltage is too high? Im thinking it does so I'll try 1.7 and see how that goes but for some reason I think that Prime95 needs a break after each test or it will report errors but hopefully not.

P95 should be able to run for at least hours (preferrably more than 12). 34 minutes means you have some stability issues that need to be solved, 3 minutes means you might as well keep on dreaming b/c there is no way in hell you are going to have a stable system with that. I don't believe too much voltage to your CPU is causing P95 to fail.....your Geil PC3200 might not be able to run @ DDR430-440. You might need to throw in a 5:4 ratio to see if that helps your problem. If it does.....you need to upgrade your RAM if you want to run 1:1, or up the voltage....

I set the voltage to 1.7 on the CPU and now it failed at 21 minutes so Im assuming its the RAM. Should I try 2.8v before I downclock the FSB? And to I have to change the chipset voltage at all?

I feel strongly that Prime95 needs breaks in between each test because I just set my RAM back to all stock settings and left the CPU as is and it failed in less than a minute. I will set the CPU to stock and see if I still get the errors so that I may hopefully prove my point.

OK everything is at stock and I am getting the same crap! If my RAM is rated at 2.9v 2.8 cant mess it up right? I believe its Prime95 and not anything else. Could somebody please help me out here?

My games work perfectly fine! Im pretty sure its Prime95 so I guess I will just try to figure out my PC stability on my own.

i had prime95 errors in 20 mins back then.. but my comp never restarted or whatever while playing.. but uhwhy dont u just try running 200fsbx12?

Is it possible that your CPU temp is too high? When I build my mystem a week ago I initially put a heatsink the wrong way. It was easier to put it the wrong way, To put it in the right way I had to remove my power supply.

Nah I have an SP-97 and although when I first got it temps were around 30C under load they are 40C max under load so Im certain it isnt that.
