Hello Guys

I have a E7200, and Gigabyte p35-S3G. I also have Earthwatts PSU 500W and 4gb 800mhz Cosair XMS2.

Now I don't have any additional cooling except stock and a standard 120mm fan at the rear of computer.

What would I need if anything to increase the FSB from 1066 to 1333mhz? and how would I do this? Just in BIOS... I am a total beginner in overclocking? Could I do anything else with this processor? Is it easy? Would I need any additional cooling/software? What are my options... Thanks

Read the "How To" sticky by "greysky" at the top of this forum..... first. This will answer some of your questions. Without having much knowlege in the overclocking world, I feel this is a good start for you.:)

i recently used the same CPU /MB/ DDR2 combo and was able to quickly o/c the system by changing FSB to 400, bumping the Vcore to ~1.33 (bios) which resulted w/ 1.29 (load), and VDimm @ 2.1 ---- 3.8Ghz was a breeze w/ stock cooling.

~1.29v seems to be average for E7200s at 3.8GHz.

Yeah, I might not even overclock - just wanted to see if I could using stock - was just upping FSB to 1066 to 1333 if thats even possible?

This would be considered overclocking---> E7200 multi = 9.5 x 333fsb = 3.16Ghz

This is default levels ---> E7200 multi = 9.5 x 266Fsb = 2.53Ghz Stock

Just in case you missed that fact :)

correction made.

This is default levels ---> E7200 multi = 9.5 x *266fsb* = 2.53Ghz

any gaming reports, 3MB vs 6MB L2 Cache at same freq?

When I swapped my E6850(4MB L2)@3.7GHz for E8400(6MB L2) I noticed a big differance in Windows for starters (Vista x64)...at 3.4Ghz E8400 was faster than E6850@3.7Ghz in SuperPI1M....

I'm looking for cpus with large cache and more SSE instructions :D
