Okay guys, its been a very long time since I have overclocked a new system.. Had the celeron 300 @ 450 and some great luck with a Celeron 566 @ 953 in the past :)

Anyways, I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the new settings that need to be adjusted. Getting a new Asus K8V board with and Athlon 64 3200 (newcastle core). Does anyone know a good site that will give me details on all the settings, such as how to properly adjust memory timings, the FSB, multiplier (if its possible) and voltages on this combo? I've looked all over the web and haven't really found a good guide. I have OCZ memory that is rated at PC3200.... Thanks!

Go with a K8T800 Pro or NF3 250 board for pci/agp lock, the Asus K8V does not lock those frequencies, making overclocking more difficult. As far as settings go, don't push the volts over 1.7 on the A64 unless you're water cooling imo. If you get good ram, you can lower the multi and crank the fsb way up, seen reviews of the newer chipsets doing 300+ fsb speeds. With higher fsb though, you have to lower the HT speed.

Gotcha, so basically, you are very limited without thepci/agp lock setting in the bios? How proportional is the bus speed increase to the PCI/AGP lock? For example if I raise the fsb to 220, how does that affect my PCI/AGP frequencies?

Well if you have a pci/agp locking board then raising your FSB wont effect it at all. Thats why its called locked. Are you asking about how much it gets raised with a NON-AGP/PCI locking baord? If you are I ask 1). Why get one of those now? 2). and say Im not sure but if the question is clear your likely to get more answers.

Well, I'm pretty much stuck with the Asus K8V SE board. Got it as part of a package and don't really feel like going through the hassle of getting another board..

Let me try to explain the original question. If a mb doesn't have the PCI/AGP lock as an option, and I raise the FSB from lets say 200 to 220, does the PCI/AGP bus rise in the same increments? How does the PCI/AGP bus get effected percentage wise? Thanks
