I just downloaded powertrip, and would like to know exact steps to overclock this card safely, maybe 183/183 or so.. it's sitting at 164/164 stock now, according to power strip..
by the way, i've turn powerstrip off so it doesn't start when computer starts up.. after i tweak it, do I need to have powerstrip running the whole time, or it just a one time thing..

sorry, i'm new at this stuff.. thanks for the help

Your new!! How did you get powerstrip to tell you what you card was running at?? I cant even figure that out! I use some thing called performance tune, it says my card is 700/45 (no kidding) so its obviously wrong!

shockwave: yeah, i downloaded powerstrip off its website. once installed, i right clicked on the icon and go to "advance option", then "performance".. the two scrolls is at 164.3MHz..

TAZ: so just type that in on run? for one time only, or every time the computer starts? so i need to enable powerstrip to auto-load when start, right? oh yeah, mine is demo version, is that okay??? thanks for the help!!!

If it's registered autoload will do it. But why use up resources by having it autoload?

sorry, new to this, so i still don't get it..
ok, no auto load.. so that command to type in "run", do i need to do that just once? and the board will overclock to that speed and remember it even the computer restarts??? or i need to type that command in EVERY TIME computer restarts? will it run at 183/183 afterward if i uninstalled powerstrip?

taz: thanks.. just a few more questions: so if i don't run that command every time i boot, the re-booted computer will go back to 164/164? so it's not permanent?
i don't even have to open powerstrip the application, right? just type in that command and that's it? no need to keep powerstrip open?

Yes it will revert back. There is no need to open the application each time, just enter that command.

taz: i just tried it.. it doesn't revert back, unless i hit "default" button...
well, at least there's a default button. also, i typed in 183 183, but it comes out to be 184.6 and 183.6 or something like that. Is that normal?

Yes the mem readings are normal. And it also DID revert back on boot. The mem readings when you restart Powerstrip are showing the LAST setting you had.

you need ps 2.77+ or 3.0 beta (with radeon support) all double settings 183/183 are not working!

Ok, if I overclock my Radeon at ALL, I get this weird....thing....When I run Q3 to benchmark, the screen turns really dark like the gamma is all jacked up, but once the game loads it looks ok...Any suggestions other then not to overclock?

Excellent tip TAZ!! I'm not crazy about Powerstrip, but its the only game in town for adjusting clock speed on the Radeon. I made 2 batch files. A 183.bat, and a 200.bat. Just launch the batch file, and change your speed. Works great!!
