I currently have an AMD XP 2100+ tbred B on a NF7 rev 2 motherboard with 512 hyperX pc 2700 chip and a CoolMaster Aero 7+. I have my fsb at 181 with a 12x multiplier(2172mhz). As of right now my system is running very stable but the only problem is that I had to bump my vcore up to 1.8 and it seems to be running a bit higher then that(1.81-1.85max). Is that a problem to run it that high, and what can I do to lower my vcore? can the power supply be an issue with that (currently have a High Power HPC-300-102)? as far as my system temperatures go I am running at 42 degrees idle and nothing higher then 48 at full load. The Chipset is running at 29 degrees idle and nothing higher then 34 degrees at full load during the stress tests. Also, I can't seem to get my system to run stable when I bump my fsb higher then 181. Any information that you can provide would be great.

Thanks,
ItalyRS

P.S. I also have a kingston 512 of normal ram running in the dual channel but I havent oced the ram.

you might have hit your rams wall.

Also have you tried lowering your cpu multi to like 8 or 9 and upping the fsb. by lowering the multi and keeping you cpu in spec or below 2100+ speeds while upping the fsb you eliminate cpu out of the picture and can see if its your ram. I wrote a tut to help ocers that if you follow should help you reach your max. To answer you question about vcore running higher when you open up a monitoring prog. Your board is overvolting a bit which is perfectly fine. mine does the same.

Another thing to look for if you search around is the hyperx has problems with certain boards and wont go over 180 no matter what. Mine did the same thing. Would not post over 180fsb and i have hyperx pc3000. I sold it to someone who got it to 230fsb in there comp. Got the twinmos and bam, above 200 in a matter of secs.

As for the temps. Are you using Artic Silver and what Heatsink/fan combo you using. You dont want your temps that high under load. I get 42 max under load. I suggest getting an sk-7 and ys tek adjustable for around $30 shipped for both. Check out case-mod.com or svc.com

Lastly. Before i can help some more, you running prime95 and memtest86 right? List your rail voltages under load (12v,5v etc.) Also what timings you have ram at. You could try loosening them

3rd post down
Folow it. its a good one and i hope it helps.

By the way, may i suggest getting pc3200 in order to reach your max fsb. Sell you stuff and get some twinmos/winbond ch-5 stuff. it owns. If you decide this route i know someone who gets it for $100 512mb pc3200 stick and $60 256mb stick. Thats shipped and it has lifetime warrenty

I did what you said about putting the FSB higher and lowering the multi, i can run it stable with a fsb over 200. So i guess its not the RAM thats the problem? Maybe my particular chip just needs more juice to run. right now i have it running very stable with a 200 fsb and a 11xmulti. but i had to bump my vcore up to 1.85v. i can also run stable with a 181 fsb and a 12xmulti with the vcore at 1.8v. Not sure what I should do as far as having my vcore up so high. My temps are chipset 30 degrees idle and cpu at 43 degrees.

well glad to help. if you temps are good with a little voltage increase great. Also if all tests prove your oc stable then you golden.
